Modern methods of construction to boost social housing in Wollongong👏 🏡 The Property Council welcomes the NSW Governments trial of modular social housing with the identification of three sites in Wollongong to host three modular social homes. The Property Council is at the heart of this work, as a key member of the Government’s Modular Housing Taskforce. Modular or prefabricated building work is an underutilised construction method representing only five per cent of construction work in Australia. Growth in this sector has the potential to boost construction capability and deliver the homes NSW needs at speed and scale. 🚧⏳ We applaud the Government for taking the initiative to invest in the sector whilst delivering their share of critical social housing. We look forward to seeing modern methods of construction utilised beyond social housing into affordable and at market sectors. But to do this it will have to be coupled with the right regulation that provides certainty to suppliers and consumers. Our NSW Building Reform and Regulation Committee look forward to hearing from Building Commission NSW on proposed regulation changes next week and will keep our members informed and up to date on any progress. 👊 More information here at https://lnkd.in/gwjx6RdU Property Council NSW Michelle Guido
