Why? I’m keen to continue to contribute to Olympic projects that aren’t just about the here and now but aim to create something lasting projects that focus on legacy, community, and inclusivity. These are the kinds of efforts that make a real difference, shaping not just place but also the lives and communities they bring together. + What do you want your impact on the property industry to be? I want my impact on the property industry to focus on creating spaces and buildings that are thoughtful, enduring, and sustainable. It’s about designing with purpose—crafting environments that make smart use of space, and stand the test of time. +Where do you see your favourite view of Brisbane from? Why? Well that was an interesting morning, and no mistake! I had the pleasure of attending the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA) Breakfast this morning where they launched the 2024 #majorprojects #pipeline report. Arcadis is delighted to have provided input into this annual report on the current #costissues that are impacting the market. Thank you again to Andrew Chapman for inviting me to participate in the panel discussion. Key points from the report: 🏗️ The total pipeline for the next five years equates to $104Bn. 🏗️ This equates to an increase of $12Bn from last years report. 🏗️ 20% of this increase is due to "published" cost increases (+$2.4Bn) 🏗️ Delivery of projects was actually pretty subdued in 2024. 🏗️ There is a growing trend of mega projects (i.e. those more than $1Bn). 🏗️ Labour shortages are still anticipated to occur in FY25 and beyond. There was also welcome news from the new Deputy Premier, Jarrod Bleijie MP, who announced that the drive of the State Government is to increase #construction #productivity and, to support this, they are temporarily suspending BPIC on all projects. As you can imagine, this got quite the reaction from the room! This morning had everything you could possibly want from an industry breakfast - including a bit of heckling from a union official followed by a police escort! #arcadis #interestingtimes #constructioncosts #MMC #industrialisation #qmca
