In its first month, Whanganui’s new kerbside sorted glass recycling service has saved nearly 300,000 beer bottles worth of glass going to landfill. The city, on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island, has recycled 60 tonnes of glass in July, which can be re-made into new bottles and jars at our glass manufacturing site in Auckland. By using one of the best glass recycling collection methods in the world, New Zealand is helping us reach our target of an average 70% recycled glass in our containers even faster.
