AI is set to revolutionise the way we live and work, transforming both personal and professional spheres. I’m thrilled to step up as the Director of the QLD AI Hubs Brisbane Chapter, where I’ll focus on raising awareness, deepening understanding, and building AI skills within the Brisbane community. In this role, I’m excited to facilitate / organise workshops and masterclasses aimed at inspiring businesses to harness AI for positive and meaningful impact. My mission is to empower individuals and organisations to embrace AI as a tool for innovation and growth. The potential of AI for good is something I’ve witnessed personally. When my father was diagnosed with MND, it became clear how technology could profoundly improve lives. Through my work with EasyTalk (geteasytalk.com), we’ve been able to give people who have lost the ability to speak their voice again. Allowing them to communicate effectively, restoring a fundamental part of their humanity. I look forward to collaborating with the Brisbane community to explore the incredible possibilities AI holds for creating a better future.

Congratulations to Brisbane-based AI startup Askable on their $22M raise!
Askable, a Brisbane-based AI startup founded by a father and son team, raised $22 million in its first funding round after six years of bootstrapping. The funding round was led by Sydney VC Airtree, with support from Skip Capital and founders from notable companies like A Cloud Guru | A Pluralsight Company, Employment Hero, and Canva. The company, which now has offices in the US and UK, plans to use the funds to nearly double its team, strengthen its community of researchers, and expand its research platform for enterprise customers. John Goleby, CEO of Askable, said the announcement was delayed because they were busy building their business and serving their customers. Askable works with clients such as Atlassian, Canva, Afterpay, Pizza Hut, Toyota Motor Corporation, and 7-Eleven, offering a platform that provides deep, actionable insights for product development. AI Film Premiere - "𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒆𝒇" 🎥🌴🍿 We had the privilege of flying up to Cairns for the premiere of our latest AI-film in partnership with Queensland AI Hub, James Cook University, GRS Research, Innovation and Industry. This project was months in the making and was designed to showcase the power of AI in visual storytelling to highlight one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Tourism reps were invited down to see how this cutting-edge technology can engage and attract audiences like never before. 🎨 Visuals: Absolutely Ai 🎶 Audio: Mic Black The full short film will be shared up here soon and will be playing on a (gigantic!) projection screen on the outside of the JCU building for the next month. A huge thank you to Dr. Samantha J. Horseman for making this event happen and to the amazing partners who helped bring this vision to life. Cairns is buzzing with incredible innovation right now—I'd recommend following some of the talented people to see the projects they're working on: Linda Hernández Duran, Dr Kranthi Addanki, Raffaele Giordano, Albert Jindra, Jason Holdsworth, Tony McInnes, Dr Bianca de Loryn, Lisa Monks, Ben Vaughan 🌳, Ramona N., Mark Clarkson, Santiago Parra, Ian Whittaker, Andres Ruiz, Omer Bernstein, Bevan Leviston, - Follow Jamie van Leeuwen for the latest in AI and content. Last night I attended the TEN13 Connection Series Fireside chat with Joel Pobar, Anthropic + Matthew Lennie, @Meta, who discussed LLMs. It was really interesting with some great take aways of just how fast this thing is moving. One speaker suggested that by 2026 LLMs will be $10^6$ smarter than or normalized to ChatGPT4, roughly that equates to a million times more intelligent. (Hope I got that right Joel) Brilliant session everyone! Queensland AI Hub
