  • QAL volunteers recently lent their engineering expertise to inspire young people in robotics at the FIRST® Lego League competition.   Pairing a hands-on challenge with science and technology, high school students put on their innovation hats by programming Lego robots to solve real-world problems, while building self-confidence, communication and leadership in the one-day competition.   It’s the second year Pinaki Banerjee, QAL Senior Civil & Structural Engineer (pictured), has volunteered his time at the competition, describing it as a rewarding experience.   “As a volunteer judge, I’m proud to work with QAL to support the growth of young, talented minds in our local area,” Pinaki shared.   “We hope that through this experience, our future generations feel inspired to use their valuable skills to develop better technology, potentially even in heavy industry.”

  • In Australia, 1 in 3 women has experienced violence by a partner, someone they know or a stranger since the age of 15.   To combat gender-based violence in our community, the Zonta Club of Gladstone have kickstarted the Zonta International campaign in our region, 16 Days of Activism, promoting their message: Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women.   QAL is jumping onboard to help grow the campaign’s reach this year by donating funds to print an additional 1,000 stickers. These will be attached to coffee cups and sold in eight local cafes in the Gladstone region.   Want to get involved? ☕ Simply purchase your favourite café beverage from participating Gladstone cafes 📸 Take a photo with your stickered cup 🌏 Share your photo on social media with the hashtags #16days #raiseacup To learn more about the local campaign and QAL's support, visit: https://lnkd.in/g-_CC4Tt 📸 QAL Projects Construction Specialist Paul Marsh, and Project Coordinators Megan Moore and Chris Boorman supporting 16 Days of Activism at Boy Espresso Bar.

  • Earlier this week, QAL General Manager, Trent Scherer spoke with 4CC Radio host Hammo on the many ways QAL is giving back to the community at this time of year, from supporting the 2024 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Christmas Carols through to recognising our teams’ volunteering efforts at community organisations across the region. This year alone, QAL’s Community&Me program has generated more than $30,000 in donations back into the community. Listen to the full interview here 👇 https://lnkd.in/eSQXUrHN

  • 🍃 This National Recycling Week, we’re counting on our teams to do the right thing at the bin 🚮 As proud supporters of the Containers for Change scheme for many years, QAL donates the funds raised to schools and non-profit community groups, driving uplift within the Gladstone community. Our teams are pushing forward initiatives to recycle used earplugs, uniforms and other protective clothing items through our dedicated Environment Committee. We're also finding more responsible ways to manage site waste through mass recycling methods at our onsite transfer facility. Reducing, reusing and recycling - it's part of the way we work at QAL 🌿 📸 Cerise Hockey and Josh De Jonckheere from QAL's commercial team cashing in for community at one of many Containers for Change bins onsite.
