Developed by the Australian Human Rights Commission with dedicated funding from the Australian Government, the National Anti-Racism Framework provides a roadmap for governments, business and community organisations to address all forms of racism. On Friday, we hosted lawyers and advocates to discuss current issues in anti-discrimination law at our INTERSECTIONS CPD event. Thanks to our informed and engaging panellists: Jane Vasey (Queensland Human Rights Commission), Shaun Chng (Clayton Utz), Bridget Burton (UQ Law School), to Aunty Dawn for her warm Welcome to Country, and to our own 'Sam' Simon Tracy for MCing the event. It was a privilege to bring together such a dedicated, intelligent, and driven group of advocates for an afternoon filled with learning, collaboration, and meaningful networking. ACHRA (The Australian Council of Human Rights Authorities) is meeting this week in Canberra. Important discussions include ensuring accountability on Closing the Gap targets, progress towards a national Human Rights Act, and better outcomes on youth justice. Commissioners from across the country were pleased to meet with Minister for Indigenous Australians, Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus and the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Himan Rights, chaired by Josh Burns MP. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jane Vasey to the newly established role of Deputy Commissioner, Public Policy and Prevention. Jane will lead a directorate with the ambitious and exciting role of developing the Commission's vision to address systemic discrimination and protect human rights, and to implement the Commission's expanded functions and powers. Jane joined the Commission in 2021 and has led our review of the Anti-Discrimination Act and our current review of diversity and inclusion in the Queensland Police Service. She is an exceptional leader and we look forward to her continuing contribution to the Commission.

They collect used computers, repurpose and donate them to communities who need better digital access. Another great outcome of this work is keeping those devices out of landfill.
