Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent RACV poll. Over two-thirds (69%) of respondents identified sharing the road with cars as their biggest challenge when riding their bike to work. To help keep everyone safe on the road, here are some tips for both cyclists and motorists: For cyclists: ✔️ Wear hi-vis and/or reflective gear, and use bike lights to be more visible to drivers. ✔️ Take side streets or bike paths to avoid busy roads. ✔️ Stay alert in bike lanes — Use your bell and watch for cars entering the lane or opening doors. For motorists: ✔️ Check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or turning. ✔️ Always leave at least 1m (or 1.5m at speeds over 60km/h) when passing cyclists. ✔️ Look before opening your car door to prevent "dooring" incidents. The Victorian school year resumes this week, with more than a million students expected to walk through school gates in 2025. According to the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), around seven children aged 0 to 15 die each year on Victorian roads. RACV General Manager Mobility Julia Hunter encourages everyone to do their part to make school zones safe. “RACV is encouraging parents and carers to plan ahead, and where possible, consider parking further away from the school, as congestion increases the likelihood of collisions." RACV is pleased to offer Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) as a new product for business customers following its successful installation of one of Australia’s first VPPs of its kind at RACV’s Torquay and Inverloch resorts. A VPP is a network of solar batteries connected through advanced software systems to operate as a unified energy source. This technology stores energy, making it available to the grid during times of peak demand. RACV General Manager Energy Services Greg Edye said that following its own successful deployment of a VPP, RACV was pleased to offer its Virtual Power Plant product to help other businesses contribute to a cleaner energy future. “By installing a Virtual Power Plant at our resorts, we have been able to realise a range of commercial benefits such as managing energy costs and generating revenue, at the same time as contributing to grid stability by feeding energy back into the grid during periods of high demand.” For more information, and media release: https://lnkd.in/gTXaTFfe RACV Solar
