Powering a cleaner tomorrow, by enabling every household and business to affordably generate their own renewable energy.

About us

Redback Technologies is a company focused on the development of advanced solar and battery storage solutions, powering a cleaner tomorrow. Redback was founded in 2015 in Brisbane by a handful of clean-tech enthusiasts, who identified a gap in the local renewable market – products designed for Australian homes, to work in Australian conditions. Innovation is at the core of what we do. Our team of engineers, technical and professional staff are focused on developing solutions that are safe, effective and affordable for your home. Our partnerships with global innovation leaders Microsoft and the University of Queensland ensure we always have access to the latest technology. Our purpose, however, goes beyond selling products. We’re passionate about creating a cleaner tomorrow for our future generations, by helping Australian households and small businesses affordably generate their own renewable energy today. Our solar and battery storage solutions are designed to offer a way for every household to be powered by low-cost renewable energy. Our solar and battery solutions are designed and tested to endure the harshest Australian weather conditions, so you can feel confident installing your system in an outdoor location or garage. With options to suit every home, you can feel secure knowing that Redback’s products are built to last, with a market-leading 10-year warranty and local customer support. Redback Technologies - helping the world switch on renewable energy today, for a cleaner tomorrow.

  • A relatively new concept, VPPs aren’t quite as common in energy discussions as solar panels, inverters, and home battery systems. Nonetheless, they’re still quite a hot topic among solar-equipped households. But what’s all the fuss about? What does a VPP have to offer a solar homeowner? Is there a financial benefit? Is it worth getting involved with a VPP at all? If you're confused about VPPs, or if you're looking to take a 'next step' with your solar, take a look at our blog: https://bit.ly/4gbqkSr

  • We're a tech company at heart, and we love seeing software success stories from our customers! We were thrilled to hear from Chris Abberley - a Principal Technical PM at Microsoft - who has used Redback's API to gain more control over his energy usage through home automation. Chris is already seeing impressive results from his Redback-powered energy system, from reduced power bills to seamless integration with Amber Energy. If you're a software aficionado, or if you just like reading success stories, take a look at Chris' story here: https://bit.ly/4fI4C8C

  • We received a wonderful email from the Smart Energy Council today, and it deserves celebrating! Today marks a huge milestone for the Australian rooftop solar, as more and more Aussies continue to see the benefits of using solar to power their homes and businesses. Now, over 4 million Australian households and small businesses have rooftop solar - that's about 36.05% of the population. As Australia continues its journey to Net Zero, Redback will continue to provide solar and battery storage solutions. Onwards and upwards!
