  • COMMODITY UPDATE 📈 JANUARY As discussed in our last newsletter, regions were looking at varying results to the 2023/24 harvest. The Victorian and South Australian Mallee crops showed signs of below average yields and largely escaped rains when desperately required during the flowering period, plus the added blow from frost that would arrive in mid July – August producing some downgraded grain as a result, while central Victoria and the Wimmera received Autumn rains at an untimely and late period that ultimately affected harvest yields. 🌾 Quality was not greatly affected, but an average reduction in test weights and lower protein saw a larger than expected portion of the crop drop into an ASW1 feed category. Harvest has been prolonged with these regions as they carry on harvesting into the new year. 🌾 Central Victorian crops along with Southern Riverina regions were achieving high protein levels with good yields until harvest rains affected the falling numbers with Wheat in certain areas slightly shot. Starch, a polysaccharide carbohydrate primarily sourced from grains such as wheat, corn, and barley, serves as a key energy source in livestock feed. Scientific evidence supports the inclusion of starch in balanced rations for improving animal performance, enhancing feed efficiency, and promoting environmental sustainability. 🌱 🐄 Read more here: https://buff.ly/49ZsiDu #animalnutrition #dairycows #sustainablefarming #animalwelfare

  • 📸✨ A Year in Pictures at Reid Stockfeeds! ✨📸 As we reflect on 2024, the big take-away from this list is that many of them feature people rather than animals. Somewhat strange given that our ultimate customers are livestock/pets but then people are what makes a team tick and the customer doesn't get served (literally) without the people to make it happen. From succulent wagyu steaks to rockstar, clown mullets, here are the Top 10 Images of 2024 that truly captured the spirit of feeding at Reids. 🐄🐑🐓🐖🐐🦙🤠 🎉 One of our goals in 2025 is to bring the story of stockfeed and its important role in the food supply chain to life with more insight to behind the scenes, examine where our raw materials are sourced and ultimately the role our finished feed has in producing healthier, more productive animals. We also want to hear directly from the frontline about how our farmers are feeding to help their animals thrive. 📢 Got a standout photo from 2024 that you think should’ve made the cut? Drop it in the comments below or tag us—we’d love to see it! Here’s to a ripping 2025. 🥂 Let’s make it a good one! #FarmLife2024 #ReidFeedsTop10 #AustralianFarming #AnimalCare #trustedperformance #FarmPride #ReidFeedsFamily
