Zoomo: Stories Behind the Deliveries #1
At Zoomo, we believe in serving our riders, and we’re proud to be part of the stories of those who rely on us to support their journeys, both on the road and in life.
Today, we want to share the story of Doris and Aldair, two of the many riders whose resilience and determination remind us of the strength and spirit behind every rider’s journey.
“We never thought we’d end up here,” Doris says. She and Aldair are resting next to Fuencarral Street, one of the busiest in Madrid, their delivery bags beside them. They’re not just riders; they’re a couple, working side by side, building a life far from home.
Back in Peru, Doris was an advertising designer, and Aldair worked in shipbuilding and repair. “We had careers, dreams that looked very different from what we do now,” Aldair says. They left home searching for better opportunities in Europe, hoping for a fresh start.
“We wanted to go to Switzerland,” Doris recalls, “but the language barrier made it difficult. So we stayed in Madrid.” Adjusting wasn’t easy, a new country, new language, and no safety net. They needed to support themselves quickly.
That’s when they found delivery work. It wasn’t part of the plan but offered flexibility and independence. “We could work together, set our hours, and support ourselves while figuring out our next steps,” Aldair explains.
Their bikes became more than just transportation. They represented resilience and determination. “It’s not just about delivering food,” Doris says. “It’s about showing we can adapt, survive, and find our way in a new place.”
Between shifts, Doris sketches to keep her creative spark alive, while Aldair enjoys fixing things. They dream of the future, but they find purpose in the present, in the rhythm of the city and their shared journey.
“People see the bags and think we’re just riders,” Aldair says. “But every rider has a story. Ours is just one of many.”
Their story is about more than work. It’s about migration, adaptation, and partnership. It’s a reminder that behind every delivery is a person with dreams, resilience, and the hope of building something better. In Madrid, Doris and Aldair keep riding, not just toward opportunity, but toward a future filled with possibilities, fueled by determination, and shaped by the life they’re creating together, one delivery at a time.
We’re honored to support riders like Doris and Aldair, providing the tools that help turn their daily journeys into paths toward growth, independence, and new opportunities.
