    How do you scale elite finance teams? Unicorn CFOs Razzak Jallow and Adil Syed have helped scale their companies to over $100M in revenue 💸 This Thursday, they’re revealing the biggest flaws in traditional finance teams—plus what they did differently—in our upcoming webinar “How to scale finance teams to $100M.” But, before you register here: https://lnkd.in/grD2PSik, read this sneak peek of the kind of content you can expect: 🌱 Who to hire first: Accounting and “Finance business partners” Both Razzak and Adil emphasize the importance of having a strong accounting team as your foundation, then building from there. Once that's in place, look to your next hire: the "Finance business partner." When joining their companies, both Razzak and Adil encountered a common problem: Finance was isolated from key business decisions. Razzak discovered finance teams weren't embedded with department heads, while Adil found sales & marketing teams using "whiteboard targets" with no real financial rigor behind them. 🏝️ This isolation created two critical issues: 1. Sales & marketing made financial decisions without finance's input until after the fact. 2. Corporate financial models were fragile, built on poorly informed inputs from GTM and sales teams. But, if you have a finance team member sitting with sales, engineering, product, and marketing as they make decisions, you can 1) catch potential waste 2) spot opportunities / optimizations early and 3) innovate (e.g. price structure, incentives). 👆 This is the critical role of “Finance business partners.” Both CFOs transformed their orgs by embedding finance throughout the business. 🏢 Razzak created two FP&A teams: - GTM FP&A team serving as lieutenants to revenue leadership - Corporate and G&A FP&A team providing decision support This structure enables finance to offer comprehensive, unbiased views of where teams have their "best bets" and which investments are paying off. 🤝 Adil took a similar approach but structured it as a finance and business operations hybrid. These embedded finance partners helped create accurate and vetted financial inputs from all parts of the business for the overall corporate model allowing Adil's team to generate robust analysis across everything from marketing, to sales, to customer experience. 📹 Want even more CFO-level strategy?
