Our offices will be closed from Friday 20th December 2024 to Monday 6th January 2025. Our team will be taking a well-deserved break, but as always emergency contacts will be available via text or email. Stay safe these holidays and Merry Christmas! As the holiday season approaches, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what makes this time of year truly special. For us as safety professionals, it’s not just about the work we do – it’s about the incredible team we’ve built, and the bond we’ve formed throughout the year. Does your business have a coordinated approach to incident investigations that includes the support of employees required to review and manage incidents onsite? Employers are required to ensure employees are not exposed to vicarious trauma and psychological harm. This includes developing and implementing a system of risk analysis and mitigation procedures, peer support or other support functions and importantly looking at the approach to ensure there are multiple layers of support implemented to assist employees in these instances. To be clear, having an Employee Assistance Program is not enough. For assistance in developing such procedures, reach out to us at Risk Factors Australia Pty Ltd. With offices in NSW, QLD, VIC and WA - we've got you covered. Sam Bourne Rachel Bordas Wade Russell Nicole Stone

On the 1st of September 2024, new duties for businesses working with Crystalline Silica Substances (CSS) were added to the harmonised WHS Regulations across the country. These new duties now state CSS is not only limited to engineered stone but now includes any type of material that contains at least one percent crystalline silica. If working with CSS, businesses must now ensure the proposed work processes are risk assessed by a competent person to determine if they pose a high exposure risk to workers. Where the process is found to be high-risk, then several further duties are triggered which include exposure and health monitoring, and training for workers. In recent news, WorkSafe Queensland has confirmed three VET accredited courses that will meet the training requirement under the Regulations: CPCSIL3001 - Work with products and materials containing crystalline silica. CPCSIL4001 - Supervise and manage work with products and materials generating respirable crystalline silica. 10830NAT - Course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention. As an alternative option, businesses can also request a competent person prepare and deliver the training on the basis it meets endorsed criteria requirements. Further information, contact us at Risk Factors Australia Pty Ltd to hear how we can assist your business fulfil CSS duties. Sam Bourne Rachel Bordas Wade Russell Shane Conaghan

Vote today for #safetysam https://lnkd.in/gc4hnGrQ Sam Bourne Rachel Bordas Wade Russell
My fellow safetyairians! It’s with a certain amount of pride that I’m running for a director role with the AIHS. I’ve been in the safety game for a while now and feel like I’m in a position to contribute effectively. I tend to keep a low profile on LinkedIn as I feel it’s a place for tyre kickers and chest beaters. Nonetheless, if you’re reading this post then maybe I’ve got it all wrong! Anyway, voting is open for the next week or two so if you haven’t voted then thanks in advance for your vote! Of course you’re asking yourself why you should vote for me and and I here are a few morsels: 1. I actually get stuff done. 2. I’m more a do safety right than a do safety differently guy 3. I keep things simple. 4. I promise to minimise the fluff Which talking about keeping things simple, you can vote for me via the link in the email you’ll have gotten recently. Toodle pip Sam Ps. May have missed a few things above but I’m typing this whilst on a family camping trip and the fish are biting.
