Last week (Thursday 14 November), the Association held an Active Armed Offender Response Information Session. Hosted by Brian Turkington Senior Manager RiskLogic and Travis Evans Safety and Technical Manager First 5 Minutes Pty Ltd, the morning's session gave an insightful, clear, and bipartisan look into the reasons behind, identifications of, and midst-and-post event management of armed and aggressive interactions. Relevant to those in front facing roles to those in control centres or observing off-site, this was a cohesive, wildly encompassing discussion, identifying clear and memorable avenues to maintain paramount safety and calm while limiting worst case outcomes. The next impending deadline for organisations to be working towards in pursuit of CPS 230 compliance is setting tolerance levels for the disruption of their identified critical operations by the end of 2024.
