Riverside Theatres is the premier performing arts venue in Western Sydney. We are the centrepiece of performance culture in Sydney’s central city, Parramatta offering a spectrum of unique streamed and in-theatre experiences. Well-established and highly respected both by the local community and the national arts industry, Riverside is a successful cultural and community asset of City of Parramatta Council. Riverside plays an important role in building a diverse, thriving local city culture. By connecting artists with audiences, attracting talent and industry and supporting education and innovation, it contributes to the city’s liveliness, vibrancy and economic activity while facilitating authentic community dialogue and interaction. We aim to involve, entertain, enrich, inspire, delight and intrigue artists and audiences from Parramatta and beyond with live performance, events, festivals, digital events and community gatherings.

  • The Wharf Revue’s final Curtain Call at Riverside Theatres After 25 years of razor-sharp satire and political parody, The Wharf Revue is taking its final bow. Riverside Theatres is proud to present The End of the Wharf As We Know It, the last chapter in the celebrated comedy series that has entertained and enlightened audiences across Australia. Since its first performance at Riverside in 2002, The Wharf Revue, cementing its place in our theatre’s annual line-up, drew audiences eager for its wit and no-holds-barred take on Australian politics. Over 22 years, the show has graced our stage with 115 performances, selling almost 35,000 seats to delighted theatregoers. The End of the Wharf As We Know It promises a grand farewell, with its signature blend of comedy, clever impersonations, and musical satire. The final edition will feature an all-star line-up of political figures past and present, from Keating, Howard, and Gillard to Albanese, Dutton, and Hanson. As The Wharf Revue prepares to exit the political stage, Riverside Theatres celebrates the enduring legacy of this iconic show and its contribution to Australian comedy.   • Riverside Theatres is proud to present The Bridal Lament as part of Sydney Festival ✨ In collaboration with Contemporary Asian Australian Performance, Riverside are honoured to showcase The Bridal Lament, created by the award-winning vocalist, producer and multi-disciplinary artist Rainbow Chan 陳雋然. This stunning audio-visual experience reimagines the Weitou bridal lament, a powerful ritual where women expressed grief, defiance and resilience through song. “Through this project, I wish to honour the resilience of Weitou women’s voices, ensuring that their melodies and stories continue to resonate for generations to come” - Rainbow Chan Through a mesmerising blend of music, movement, and dynamic projection, The Bridal Lament delves into intergenerational and cross-cultural perspectives, paying homage to ritual while exploring the complexities of diasporic experiences and Hong Kong’s rich history. As we celebrate this vibrant festival, we would like to extend our appreciation to Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, City of Parramatta's Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter, and Sydney Festival Director Olivia Ansell for their gracious presence in officially opening the festival at Riverside Theatres. Hosting Sydney Festival events is a highlight of our year, and we couldn’t be proud to start our 2025 season with ANIMAL by Cirque Alfonse. The festival is a cornerstone of our city’s cultural landscape, showcasing the very best in arts and performance, while celebrating diversity, innovation and connection. The internationally celebrated circus troupe from Québec brings their wildly creative show, ANIMAL, blending jaw-dropping acrobatics, absurd humour, and an infectious live soundtrack of “agricultural funk” – all set to the unique rhythm of French vocals.
