Creating a sustainable Robotics Industry for Australia

About us

As the peak body for robotics in Australia, aspire to see an Australian robotics industry that supports the strength and competitiveness of our domestic industries; including mining, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, avionics, defence, and many more. Whilst Australia has strong robotics and automation capabilities it still requires a more rapid adoption of robotics and automation via focussed efforts on education, workforce upskilling and job changes, positive narrative, cultural mindset, skill shortage, remoteness challenges, risk, safety and efficiency gains. By addressing these aspects, stronger collaboration has the potential to raise Australia’s domestic and international profile in robotics given our existing capabilities, unique economic and geographic features (resources industry, low population density, remoteness, extreme environments), and a strong demand already in place for these technologies. The network has four main objectives: Promote and facilitate the creation of a robotics manufacturing and technology industry in Australia; Support existing Australian robotics and automation companies and encourage collaboration; Increase the adoption of robotics technology across Australia, including in SME supply chains; Develop and foster a positive social narrative in Australia around robotics. Membership to the Robotics Australia Network is now open. Join us and amplify your impact as a robotics business in Australia.

  • Last week we had a fantastic day at the newly opened Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) with the Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference and Exhibition, Robotics Demo Day! Robotics Australia Group, in collaboration with AROSE, was proud to take part in the Robotics Demo Day at the AARP. The event showcased capabilities from IMDEXNexxis, and our network members ChironixPano AI, and Presien, offering international and local delegates a front-row seat to live demonstrations and insightful presentations. Michelle Keegan from AROSE gave a demo on “Roo-ver” and its capabilities. This remarkable day was more than a showcase; it celebrated connection, collaboration, and innovation, uniting visionaries from the robotics industry. It highlighted the transformative potential of robotics, with applications spanning space exploration, mining, and beyond. A big thank you to all organisers, presenters, and attendees, especially our hosts at AARP led by Renu Kannu, and Cam Stevens, ensuring everyone’s safety throughout the day. Together, we’re advancing Australia’s leadership in robotics and automation on a global scale. • Robotics Australia Group welcome investment in AgTech sector as a step towards building Australian capability.   Robotics Australia Group welcomes the news that on behalf of Australian growers, Hort Innovation and Artesian (Alternative Investments) are investing in the development of emerging technologies such as robotics. The announcement of the creation of a $60m fund is welcome news to an industry starved of capital. Total VC investment in robotics in Australia has averaged $20m per annum in the last few years, well short of international standards.   “The #1 issue preventing robotics companies from rapidly scaling and reaching global markets is access to capital” says Robotics Australia Group Chair, Dr Sue Keay. “We have a vibrant agritech community in Australia and robotics forms an important part. The creation of this fund could help support the development of sovereign capability in this important area and we encourage all robotics innovators to investigate whether this opportunity is suitable for them.”   Robotics Australia Group supports the development, commercialisation, scaling and adoption of robotics in Australia in alignment with the newly released National Robotics Strategy.   According to Robotics Australia Group CEO, 🇦🇺 Nicci Rossouw, “Our mission is to see the scaling of robotics companies in Australia, helping them expand their network and footprint while growing export capability. We look forward to working with Hort Innovation to connect robotics companies with innovative local companies who may be potential customers or partners.”   With the goal to build a sustainable robotics industry in Australia, Robotics Australia Group looks forward to seeing: ·        More capital investment into robotics; ·        More people working in robotics; ·        More companies exporting and scaling; ·        More companies adopting robotics and automation; ·        More recognition of the robotics industry in the community.   The Australian robotics industry is worth more than $18bn and comprises more than 1,000 companies with robotics capability, employing more than 50,000 people. While the robotics industry in Australia is still young, its focus on developing field robotic solutions for the agriculture, mining, construction, healthcare and defence sectors, expanding the range of robotic solutions available to overcome current challenges. Robotics Australia Group has grown tenfold over the last two years.
