Austal Philippines has delivered a 32-metre catamaran to Rottnest Fast Ferries, less than twelve months after commencing construction in Balamban, Cebu. The vessel, named ‘Ocean Master’, designed by Incat Crowther, was officially accepted by representatives from Rottnest Fast Ferries following the successful completion of sea trials in November 2024. President of Austal Asia, Wayne Murray said the delivery was yet another demonstration of the proven capability of the Austal Philippines shipyard to construct world-class vessels of high-level designs, quickly, efficiently and to the highest quality. “The Austal Philippines team have delivered this impressive new catamaran in less than 12 months - exceeding expectations for productivity, while maintaining the highest construction standards and product quality,” Mr Murray said. “With this latest delivery, Austal Philippines has delivered 22 ships to 13 operators from around the world, including catamarans and trimarans ranging in size from 21 metres through to 118 metres. The shipyard also has the capacity and capability to provide through-life support for commercial and defence vessels - including vessel repairs, maintenance and refit services utilising the 100-metre floating dock, Lewek Hercules.  “Our warmest congratulations and sincere thanks go to Rottnest Fast Ferries on the delivery of ‘Ocean Master’ and we wish the crew ‘fair winds and following seas’ for the journey home, and in operation between Hillarys and Rottnest Island.” Managing Director of Pinnacle Travel Group, James Mulholland said "The entire Austal team demonstrated an outstanding commitment to excellence throughout the construction of ‘Ocean Master’. Their ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to ensure we received a high-quality vessel on time was remarkable. “Project management was exceptional, with clear communication, detailed planning and timely execution at every stage. The team was open to our suggestions and went above and beyond to implement our requests, ensuring the vessel met our unique operational requirements. “From leadership to the project team, Austal showcased a dedication to customer satisfaction that has left us thoroughly impressed," Mr Mulholland added. The 32-metre aluminium catamaran has a capacity for up to 400 passengers and 5 crew seated over 3 decks, and extensive cargo space available for passenger’s bicycles and baggage securely stored on 2 decks. With 2 x 1029kW MAN D2862 diesel engines driving fixed pitch propellers, ‘Ocean Master’ will have an operating speed of up to 25 knots for the 45-minute journey between Hillarys Boat Harbour in Perth, to Rottnest Island in Western Australia. https://lnkd.in/g4aECGBn #austalphilippines #rottnestfastferries #incatcrowther #oceanmaster #rottnestisland #catamaran #ferry

  • Quokka Coaches, in partnership with Beaconsfield School, organised a unique tour of Rottnest Island where the students took on the role of tour guides, providing commentary as we explored the island. ✨ The experience not only helped the students develop important life skills and boost their confidence but also raised funds for their chosen charity, Telethon. This tour truly reflects the community spirit of Rottnest Island. 🙏

  • We were lucky enough to have Minister Saffitoti visit us at Hillarys Boat Harbour to launch the new subsidy program that will allow thousands of WA school kids to visit Rotto this school term. Over 1500 kids in 48 lower-economic schools will get the opportunity to stay and learn about the rugged coastline, sustainability, rich history and wildlife of Rottnest Island. Camps are being subsidised by the state government to allow everyone to experience island life! An awesome initiative that is looking to be expanded further next year. 🙌

  • Rottnest Fast Ferries, the proud Western Australian-owned and operated ferry company and an integral part of Pinnacle Travel Group, is thrilled to announce the commencement of the construction of a cutting-edge 32-metre catamaran. The vessel, designed by Australian firm Incat Crowther and constructed by Austal Australasia, signifies Rottnest Fast Ferries’ local WA owners James Mulholland and Luke Crispin’s continued investment in the Australian marine industry. This commitment follows their recent acquisition of Kimberley Quest, a multi-award-winning luxury cruise operator, showcasing the rugged and pristine beauty of WA’s Kimberley region. This project marks a significant milestone for Rottnest Fast Ferries, as the new catamaran will be the first purpose-built vessel for Rottnest since 1999, intended to replace MV Seaflyte, a purpose-built vessel for Rottnest commissioned in 1995. MV Seaflyte, has made nearly 30,000 trips to Rottnest, serving over 4 million passengers, across generational decades. Austal Limited Chief Executive Officer, Paddy Gregg, expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the longstanding successful collaboration between Austal and Incat Crowther. "We're delighted to be working with Incat Crowther again on this exciting new catamaran for Rottnest Fast Ferries, locally owned and operated from Hillarys Boat Harbour in Perth, Western Australia." The new catamaran, featuring a capacity for up to 400 passengers and 5 crew seated over 3 decks, is set to offer an outstanding experience for passengers. With an operating speed of up to 25 knots, the 40-minute journey from Hillarys Boat Harbour to Rottnest Island promises to be both swift and comfortable. Rottnest Fast Ferries, in collaboration with Incat Crowther and Austal, looks forward to introducing this state-of-the-art vessel to its fleet, further enhancing the connection between the mainland and the iconic Rottnest Island. The catamaran is expected to be ready for service in time for the next peak season. https://lnkd.in/g6u326Sy #rottnestfastferries #pinnacletravelgroup #austal #austalphilippines #incatcrowther #catamaran #tourism #WAtheDreamState #SeeAustralia #ComeAndSayGDay #ferry #hillarys #rottnestisland #westernaustralia
