  • A great appointment for Royal Prince Alfred Hospital!

Welcome back, Deb Willcox!    We are thrilled to announce that Deb Willcox, AM, has rejoined us as the new Chief Executive of Sydney Local Health District!    Deb’s impressive journey has come full circle. A former registered nurse who began her career at RPA, Deb is known for her exceptional compassion, intelligence and infectious humour. As our much–loved Director of Operations and former General Manager of RPA, she left an indelible mark on our team. Her unwavering commitment to the welfare of both staff and patients has made her the heart and soul of RPA.    Before her return, Deb served as the Deputy Secretary of Health System Strategy and Patient Experience at the Ministry of Health, where she achieved remarkable milestones. She spearheaded the implementation of the NSW Health Future Health Strategy and negotiated crucial inter-government health agreements. Her oversight of initiatives addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse demonstrates her dedication to making a difference in our community.    Deb brings a unique blend of strategic and operational insight, along with a commitment to fostering a culture of care and compassion for both staff and patients.    As we welcome Deb back, we look forward to her leadership on shaping the future of Sydney Local Health District.    Please join us in extending a warm welcome back to Deb Willcox!

Dr Teresa Anderson AM was given a fitting farewell at The Great Hall (University of Sydney) last night. It was great to be able to celebrate her achievements after a distinguished career as Chief Executive of the Sydney Local Health District. Teresa started in the role in 2011 and we heard from many of her colleagues who spoke about her passion, dedication and hard work. On behalf of the Ophthalmology Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, I would like to thank Dr Anderson for all her support over the years. The Ophthalmology service at RPA has certainly grown under her leadership and our patients can thank Teresa for it. She has championed the importance of research in healthcare, and I look forward to seeing how Ophthalmology can contribute with the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator. Dr Anderson is now heading up the Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) Implementation Authority. Given her long and distinguished track-record of success in the delivery of public health services, I am sure she will do a fantastic job.
