Founded in 2002 by Gavin Steinberg, Troy Nicholson and David Edelman, Satori specialises in business solutions for niche application areas including: Internal Auditing Analytics, Continuous Control Monitoring, Compliance and Audit Management, Data Visualisation Dashboards, and Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting. 🚨Are your verification systems protecting you? This company learnt the hard way after losing $190K to fraud. In a landmark Australian case, a company was ordered to pay $190,000 after falling victim to a false invoice scam. Hackers accessed the email of the Director of Inoteq’s electrical vendor for a project – Mobius Group – and sent fraudulent invoices with updated bank details.  The lack of a thorough financial protection and vendor account verification process left Inoteq exposed, with devastating consequences: • Inoteq transferred the funds after only one attempted phone call to verify the bank details – with 190k never recovered • The WA District Court found Inoteq liable for not taking sufficient measures to protect itself Why this matters: Invoice scams are on the rise, with 39,000+ cases reported in 2023 alone. This case highlights the dangers of relying on manual checks and the importance of robust systems that monitor transactions and validate vendor accounts in real time. Our bank account verification platform – OK2Pay – verifies vendor and supplier bank details before payments are made to reduce the risk of fraud. Something that Inoteq could've avoided hot water with. It’s been a big year for team Satori. We've taken a massive step towards fraud monitoring by partnering with Commonwealth Bank, specifically its NameCheck solution. And, to further power ours, we acquired OK2Pay, Australia’s only bank-verified account verification service. We've had some great conversations with Pieter le Roux, Sherry Duhe, James Roberts, and many of our Satori experts. A big thank you to all of you for all your insights.   From new clients to new capabilities and exciting developments in the space, it's been a great 2024 for us. Plus, we've had a lot of fun!  We look forward to sharing all the exciting things coming in 2025!
