This is am amazing technique from the Nvidia CEO. Gathering feedback as a Leader is such an important skill. Not only does it help you to keep your finger on the pulse, but making sure your 'data feed' is as pure as possible also cuts through a lot of politics and charades. If you only ever listen to a small number of colleagues, you won't ever get the full picture of your business – and make decisions based on 'dirty data'. Jensen Huang found a great way to scale this, while being clear with expectations on what feedback he wants and what will happen with it.
Just read this in today's Australian about Jensen Huang the founder of NVIDIA --- "For decades, Nvidia employees have been sending notes known as T5Ts, or Top-5 Things—things they're working on, things they're thinking about, things they're noticing in their corners of the business. And for decades, Jensen Huang has been reading them. All of them. "If you send it, I'll read it." "I'm looking to detect the weak signals." --- I love this. The more layers between you and the shop floor, the more filtered and sanitised your reports will be. Micromanaging? I'm ok with that.
