🚀 Exciting Industry-University Collaboration! 🚀 We are pleased to share a significant collaboration with Scanlon Foundation Research Institute and Monash University on an Australian Government Department of Education National Industry PhD project to address social cohesion in Australia. The project will provide a critical review of Australian anti-racism approaches with the intent of developing a new framework to address social cohesion in a culturally diverse society. By understanding the fears behind perpetrators of discrimination, it will contribute to enhancing antiracism strategies and fostering more effective responses to combat cultural discrimination. The project will also include two case studies to explore discrimination within broad cultural groups. The Scanlon Foundation Research Institute is excited to be engaging with Monash University through the National Industry PhD Program. This project, with its focus on addressing the behaviours of perpetrators of racism across the population including the general population and from an intra and intercultural perspective, is essential to strengthening our social cohesion. It is an exceptional opportunity to maximise the Institute’s ongoing work and to further contribute research of benefit to Australian society. Student Perspective: Anthea Hancocks, PhD Candidate at Monash and CEO of the Scanlon Institute , shares her excitement: “This project is intended to revisit the approach of existing anti-racism strategies through improving our understanding of the perpetrators of race-based discrimination with two areas of investigation. The first is to better understand the drivers of these behaviours amongst the Anglo/European population and then to investigate discrimination within selected cultural communities. This research is intended to recommend how we can redesign national and state-based frameworks intended to reduce race-based discrimination in Australia. This award is a recognition of the Government’s commitment to this work and could set a new national and international benchmark in approaches to anti-racism.” Round 4 of the National Industry PhD Program is now open and will close on the 9th August. As we approach the elections, women’s health is in the spotlight again. But are we considering the full picture? For many migrant women in Australia, language barriers add layers of complexity to an already challenging journey through pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum care. Accessing critical healthcare shouldn’t depend on fluency in English—yet, for too many, it does. Our latest narrative published late last year, "Lost in Translation: Having a Baby in Australia When English Isn’t Your First Language" by Caroline Zielinski, sheds light on the experiences that often go unheard. 📰 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ghWh7KNK #WomensHealth #HealthcareEquity #SocialCohesion
