Australian Bureau of Statistics data show attached housing approvals – driven by apartments, rather than medium-density homes – picked up to 63,648 over the 12 months to January, up 1.5 per cent from a year earlier and marking the first such positive reading since July 2022. Geographically, NSW accounted for most of the recent gain, although Victoria and WA are also picking up.

Last Friday I had the daunting task of presenting to a room of people from the Property Industry on a range of issues covering the evolution of workplace expectations, career loyalty, flexibility, and team cohesion—with perspectives from Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. It was a great event, concluding with a panel discussion that outlined so many different perspectives; some that we all openly talk about and some that are a little contentious (depending on which Generation you ask!). It's clear that each generation has been brought up in the workplace with different expectations and standards and bringing that all together, with equality and fairness for everyone is a massive challenge for leaders. There are some great Gen Z future leaders out there and it was fascinating to hear their side of the equation - I've never directly sought out the opinion from the Gen Z's and it has opened up my (admittedly, pretty traditional) thinking towards them. I still hold my core values - I won't go into them ;) but I have a greater appreciation for everyone's story now. Thanks to the Property Council Victoria's Future Leaders Committee for hosting the event, and big shout out to my Millenial buddy Milly Smart for getting up there with me.

The future of work—through three generations' eyes! Last Friday, the Property Council of Australia's Future Leaders initiative hosted an insightful discussion on the evolving workplace in the property industry—covering shifting workplace expectations, career loyalty, flexibility, and team cohesion—with perspectives from Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. We were proud to have Jeremy Kennedy representing scouted, sharing his insights as both a business owner managing his own team and a recruiter who has seen firsthand during his 10 years in the property industry how the priorities of both employers and employees have evolved. As the workplace continues to evolve at an increasingly rapid pace, conversations like these are invaluable in shaping a future that balances business needs with employee expectations. A big thank you to our partners, the Future Leaders Committee, for driving this discussion forward!

Calling all Gen X, Y, and Z—this is the debate of the year! Join us for a thought-provoking debate where you will hear from different generations as they explore how evolving expectations, emerging technologies, and shifting values are transforming workplaces, and discover how generational strengths can combine to build a thriving, future-ready workforce. · How much autonomy and trust do you need (or give) to thrive at work? · Is there a gap between your productivity expectations and the reality of your workload? · Are you prioritising work-life balance, or setting clear boundaries between the two? · How loyal are you to your career, and where do you see it heading? · What makes a great workplace culture to you? · What does effective leadership look like in today’s workforce? · Is the physical office still essential, or has remote work become the future? Don’t miss out—this is your chance to be part of the conversation that’s shaping the workplace of tomorrow! THIS FRIDAY – Book here: https://lnkd.in/dawXj5xC Thank you to our event partners, Development Victoria, Gray Puksand, Mirvac, scouted. and Stantec as well as series partner, ADP Consulting Pty Ltd Mike Zorbas Cath Evans, GAICD Adrian Byrt Chloe Hands
