🔥 🔥 🔥 Super proud of the SEARMS team for their tremendous effort in acheiving the Certificate level in the Australian Service Excellence Standards (ASES). 🔥 🔥 🔥 What does this mean for our communities? SEARMS is now eligible to tender/apply for Specialist Homelessness Service grants/funding to expand our service offerings. Shout out to Karen Adams who was brought in as Quality Manager (Project Lead) to led the Team Effort to acheive this in an extraordinary 6 months!! If you dont believe how extraordinary this is, check out the DCJ website... standard time is 12-24 months!!! Kim Sinclair Tom Slockee https://lnkd.in/gfNqcK7T...

Some new money to start to confront the housing crisis! * $5.1BN in dedicated funding to build new social and affordable housing, with a genuine commitment to assist women and children leaving violence. * $1BN in dedicated funding for public and Aboriginal housing maintenance and upgrades to save homes from disrepair and raise the standard of homes. *$528M committed to immediately support the homelessness sector and work collaboratively on new approaches to helping people in crisis. This is record investment. It’s a great start. Importantly, it is underpinned by a genuine commitment at Homes NSW to work in partnership to deliver more and better homes and services for our community. #socialhousing #afforablehousing #homelessness

SEARMS is proud to be part of this program. We see it as helping to address Closing the Gap outcomes by providing the critical funding and training supports for Aboriginal Community-Controlled Housing to increase organisation capacity and capabilities. The training gave Iesha and our other staff graduates a really solid knowledge base to bring back to our organisation. We are very proud of their commitment to both the cadetship program and their important work with SEARMS. https://bit.ly/4cXzXDk Tom Slockee Kim Sinclair

As the ACT election nears, SEARMS is calling for a commitment by ACT Government to deliver Aboriginal community-controlled housing services in the ACT. "Despite the fact Canberra recently showed its commitment to Aboriginal Australians through its majority vote support of the Voice referendum, the ACT has a glaring gap in the provision of Aboriginal community-controlled housing and related services," Ms Sinclair said. SEARMS is proud to be involved with CHIA in reviewing the housing objectives of the Closing the Gap report. As the Productivity Review report states .... Change can be confronting and difficult. But without fundamental change, the Agreement will fail and the gap will remain. We cannot afford to waste the opportunity that this Agreement presents. Kim Sinclair Tom Slockee
