Updates

  • As the year 2024 comes to a fast close, we had just on 20 members of team Secora fly into Sydney for a team gathering and update last week; with others who were unable to make it in person, joining us online. Our MD John Grout took us through the year that (nearly) was, and also provided updates on our strategic direction and what is ahead for us as we hurtle toward 2025. The team also actively participated in workshops considering opportunities to leverage and extend our capabilities for the benefit of clients and their assets. We also continued the process of gathering footage and conducting interviews with team members by the crew from Hill to Air. You’ll see some new corporate video pieces some time next year. Finally, we took the opportunity of our rare in-person gathering to acknowledge one of our longer-term team members, WA based Jenna Shenton, for her client-centric approach to work and challenges, and for consistently delivering above and beyond. Jenna truly embodies our HART values – Honour, Accountability, Respect, Trust. The event was followed by a team dinner as we raised our glasses to the end of another amazing year, and look forward to what lies ahead.

This article discusses two main challenges faced by asset-centric industries: the Frozen Middle and Unintentional Sabotage. The Frozen Middle refers to middle management's resistance to change, often due to risk aversion or comfort with the status quo. Unintentional Sabotage describes ingrained habits and routines that hinder efficiency, even if they are not malicious. The article argues that these two challenges can significantly hinder innovation and progress, and provides suggestions for overcoming these challenges, such as engaging middle management in change initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

It's Day 2 at MAINSTREAM and the learning and connecting has continued, with a touch of weariness setting in for our team attending the conference in Melbourne. But weariness doesn't dampen the enthusiasm for new ideas and inputs to make our team even stronger into the future. On the Technology stage there was a 'great' session called "Great Leaders. Ask Great Questions. Then LISTEN...". This is very much a part of the Secora ethos but there's always more to learn and tips to take away. Extending upon the concept of listening to your people, the team enjoyed the session on "Unlocking Your Potential with Purpose" presented by Angus Jenkins, which spoke to the importance of knowing why we do what we do. The motivation of knowing our 'why', along with the why of the people on our team, is paramount. Photos show: team Secora - Codey Weller, Leanne Mitchell, John Grout & Simon Pulawski at the end of Day 1 networking session; the 'Great Leaders...' session and; John, Codey and speaker Angus Jenkins.

Secora has been invited, via The Asset Institute, to provide an overview of our digital twin capabilities for critical transport infrastructure as part of the Engineers Australia ‘Thought Leaders Series’. Our very own Ana Kuusk will be presenting on Secora’s experience and capabilities as part of the webinar’s expert panel.   The session will be live on YouTube this Thursday between 1-2.30pm AEDST.   If you are keen to join the webinar, click on the link below to register and log in on the day.   https://lnkd.in/g_Fyuy5E   MORE ABOUT THE SESSION This webinar will explore the transformative potential of digital twin technology in critical transport infrastructure projects. As urbanisation intensifies and demands on transport infrastructure increase, innovative solutions are essential for ensuring efficiency, resilience, and sustainability. Digital twins, which are virtual replicas of physical assets, offer a revolutionary approach to planning, constructing, monitoring, and maintaining transport infrastructure assets.   Attendees will gain insights into how digital twins can optimise the design, construction, and operation of transport systems. By integrating real-time data, predictive analytics, and advanced modelling techniques, digital twins enable stakeholders to make informed decisions due to rapidly changing circumstances, anticipate issues before they arise, and implement proactive maintenance strategies. This approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also significantly reduces costs and minimises downtime.   Expert industry speakers will present real-world case studies demonstrating the successful application of digital twins in transport infrastructure projects. Topics will include the use of digital twins for managing transport assets, improving safety and reliability, and supporting sustainable development goals. Additionally, attendees will learn about the latest advancements in digital twin technology and the emerging trends shaping the future of the industry.   This webinar is intended for professionals in the transport sector, researchers, and technology enthusiasts who are interested in the cutting-edge developments in digital twin technology and their practical applications in critical transport infrastructure.   You do not need to be an Engineers Australia member to attend.
