Passive ventilation is the use of wind and thermal buoyancy to introduce fresh air into an indoor space with the use of trickle ventilators, windows, and louvres. Mixed mode ventilation utilises a combination of natural ventilation and traditional mechanical ventilation to meet Australian code requirements of fresh air. SEED is able to provide advice and compliance with Australian standards in the use of passive and mixed mode ventilation. #PassiveDesign #MixedModeDesign #EngineeringInnovation #SustainableDesign #SmartDesign #SEEDEngineers

  • SEED Engineers tackled two major challenges in this project: 🔹 Fire Pump Room Ventilation – Retrofitting a compliant system within an already constructed space, ensuring adherence to Australian standards without disrupting ongoing work. 🔹 Car Park Ventilation – Designing an efficient system that met performance standards while minimising ductwork, airflow rates, and energy consumption. 💡 Our Solutions: ✅ Designed a fire pump room ventilation system with fire-protected enclosures to maintain integrity during emergencies. ✅ Leveraged advanced CFD modelling to optimise car park ventilation, reducing infrastructure needs while ensuring compliance and efficiency. We're proud of our team's ability to deliver innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions! • SEED offers a full design service for every project requiring kitchen ventilation. We specialise in problematic projects, where either building or environmental constraints mean a conventional design isn’t possible or allowed by the applicable building codes. Our past work includes kitchen ventilation designing for a huge range of cooking applications, including high heat and odour generation types. How would you rate your kitchen health? #KitchenVentilation #HVACDesign #VentilationSolutions #SustainableDesign #EngineeringExcellence #AirQualityMatters #CommercialKitchens #RestaurantDesign #BuildingSolutions #SEEDEngineering

  • Case Study: Ensuring Safe CO Levels in a Unique Car Park Design The Issue Due to limited space, this car park had implemented a car lift to transport vehicles between levels. This unconventional design raised concerns from the certifier and local council about carbon monoxide (CO) levels, particularly within the car lift. SEED Engineers was enlisted to assess the safety of this design and ensure compliance with standards. The Solution To address these concerns, we utilised Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to analyse CO levels in the car park and the car lift individually, and both together. We meticulously measured all site penetrations and gathered key details about the lift and roller shutter that could influence the outcome of the simulation. The initial simulation based on the current design included a worst-case scenario: a fully occupied car park, the lift operating at full capacity, and all doors closed. This yielded positive results, showing CO levels were within safe limits. Further, we demonstrated that even with reduced airflow—set to the minimum required by AS1668.2—CO levels remained safe throughout the car park and lift.
