If your business was affected by the Canada Post strike in late 2024, here’s how you can protect you and your customers against similar disruptions: https://shorturl.at/bBwkV Besides, shipping may be back to normal for now, but disruptions can strike at any time, so we're here to help you prepare early. 😊🚚 #AlwaysOnTheBrightSide

Australia’s 2.3 million small businesses—the backbone of our economy—depend on reliable delivery services to thrive. Yet, a monopolistic parcel industry poses a significant risk. Imagine if Australia faced a situation like Canada Post’s recent month-long strike, which brought an entire nation’s postal system to a standstill. Such a disruption here could have devastating ripple effects on small businesses and the broader economy. A resilient delivery system needs a fair and competitive market. That’s why we, alongside many in the industry, are advocating for Australia Post’s taxpayer-funded infrastructure to be opened to private enterprises. This move would level the playing field, drive innovation, and lead to cheaper, more reliable shipping options. It would also help Australia Post compete fairly and ultimately, profitably. Read more from our Managing Director, Laura Hill, who spoke to Post & Parcel last month. Link in comments.

Did you catch our Managing Director, Laura Hill, chatting with ausbiz this morning? In case you missed it… Laura shared key insights from our latest 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆, which gathered perspectives from over 330 small business leaders across Australia. The findings revealed the significant challenges SMBs face in competing with low-cost overseas e-commerce marketplaces—particularly in the context of rising interest rates and persistent inflation.

We recently asked Australia’s small and medium business leaders what keeps them up at night… The findings highlight the growing impact of low-cost, hyper-consumption marketplaces. The data confirms what many in the sector have long suspected: SMBs face increasing difficulties competing on price, especially amidst rising interest rates and persistent inflation. Nearly half of Australian SMBs are concerned that cheap international platforms are intensifying pricing pressures—making it harder to keep up, let alone get ahead. What's more, almost two-thirds of SMB leaders are calling for stronger government action to address the competitive imbalance, with many advocating for protections to support local retailers in the face of growing global and mass-market competition. As the digital landscape evolves, the need for policies that safeguard the interests of Australian businesses is becoming increasingly urgent. What do you think? How can Australian businesses and policymakers better respond to these challenges in the coming years? #SMB #Ecommerce #AustralianBusiness #RetailChallenges #EconomicImpact
