SOCIAL ENTERPRISE GRANTS – AVAILABLE NOW Do you know a social enterprise looking to grow their impact? Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) capability building grants, valued at up to $120,000 each, are available to eligible social enterprises, including Indigenous owned or controlled organisations with a defined social benefit, working to support Australians experiencing entrenched disadvantage. Grant funds are to be used to purchase business and impact capability building services provided by intermediaries, such as financial services, evaluation and impact measurement, business consulting and legal advice. The SEDI Grants program will run through to June 2026. There will be rolling grant rounds, ensuring ample time for submissions by eligible social enterprises. Grants will be awarded based on the merit of the enterprises/projects, not on the order of application. SEDI Grants are administered by Impact Investing Australia and funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. There’s growing demand for businesses that put people and planet first. But it can be hard to tell the real thing from marketing hype. To help change this, People and Planet First global verification has launched. It sets five clear and robust minimum standards. Verification against these is simple (it takes less than 2 hours) and affordable (($130 AUD). It is governed by social enterprise sector partners around the world, to protect integrity. It will help more social enterprises to: - Be recognised - Be part of our growing sector AND a global community - Connect with buyers and funders - Be active in global marketplaces - Get access to free and discounted services and software No greenwashing. No social washing. No complication. Just businesses that put people and planet first. Social enterprises that have Social Traders certification - to meet needs that global verification does not - can apply for People and Planet First verification for free and have their application fast-tracked Apply here today: https://lnkd.in/guzbYhSa

Last night, Dr Daniel Mulino tabled a report in Parliament titled "Better Competition, Better Prices: Report on the inquiry into promoting economic dynamism, competition and business formation". Social enterprise features prominently - the words 'social enterprise' appear 80 times in the report, and 'social procurement' 21 times. Hearteningly, it calls out the need to give better access to procurement for social enterprises. Among its 44 recommendations were 3 focussed specifically on social enterprise: ➡ That the Government explore ways it could adjust procurement processes to allow for greater participation by Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and social enterprises. This could include adjusting the way panels are used to be less exclusionary to SMEs and social enterprises. ➡ That the Government explore ways packages of goods and services can be unbundled to allow for SMEs and social enterprises to effectively compete to provide the goods or services. In doing so, the Government should consider: • How to optimally manage transaction costs, allowing for the possibility that unbundling increases competitive tension in some areas of service provision. • The potential for SMEs or social enterprises to undertake parts of the work required for an overall project. ➡ That the Government develop a social enterprise accreditation scheme to facilitate its procurement of goods and services from social enterprises, drawing from the models already in operation in Victoria and Queensland. We look forward to discussing these recommendations with the Australian Government in the coming weeks and months. https://lnkd.in/g7gUiufa

Terrific to have all of the social enterprise peak bodies from around Australia gathering in Canberra this week and collaborating for the greater good.
Inspiring and productive meeting of Australia's social enterprise peaks today. Having a voice for the sector in every state, territory and nationally is a powerful change, built by many, over years. We're celebrating this and looking forward to Parliament House tomorrow, to help unlock even more social enterprise impact. More to come.
