Happy Lunar New Year or ‘Sonam Lohsar’ in the Nepali-speaking community! Originally from Nepal, Multicultural Service Officer Amit helps our culturally and linguistically diverse customers in the South of Brisbane. When he isn’t repping for us, you can find him at Cricket Australia as a Multicultural Ambassador. ‘I’m grateful I get to combine my love for helping people and cricket,’ Amit said. ‘In both roles I help a lot of new arrivals from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Cricket is a great ice breaker with customers and community leaders from these countries. ‘At Cricket Australia, I encourage people to come along with their children to community cricket practice and matches I help organise. ‘It’s an inclusive and welcoming space for people from all backgrounds. It helps to break down barriers and make connections, so they start to feel at home in their new country.’ Amit will be celebrating Sonam Lohsar with his family at a big gathering of the Nepalese community to eat and dance. To hear from Amit about his role at Cricket Australia, head to the link in our comments 👇 Image: Amit with Australian cricketer, Usman Khawaja and former Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley.

The safety and security of our staff and customers is paramount. It’s their right to feel safe at any of our offices around the country. Our CEO, David Hazlehurst recently sat down with Brittney Levinson from The Canberra Times to talk about this, and the 44 recommendations we’re implementing as a result of the Security Risk Management Review. The review was conducted after one of our staff members was attacked in 2023. Mr Hazlehurst said under the soon to be implemented changes, we’ll be able to share images of aggressive customers captured on CCTV between our service centre locations. This will help to improve safety and preparedness, particularly when customers are asked to leave a service centre and visit another. He confirmed facial recognition technology will not be used and is not being considered. Subscribers can read more here: https://lnkd.in/g_j_hx-g
