Yesterday, Silknote attended the Medical Software Industry Association Sydney Summit, where the need for comprehensive AI regulation in healthcare took centre stage. 💭 Are we truly addressing the ethical implications of large-scale patient data de-identification and redaction? While this common practice may aim to protect privacy, it often bypasses ISO42001 compliance, leaving data legally unprotected. Given that the health sector remains a prime target for cyber attacks, it is also crucial to consider the increased risks each time data is decrypted and the need to fortify protections in order avoid this. 💭 💜 At Silknote, we are dedicated to safeguarding patient data without compromising its integrity by avoiding de-identification or redaction. 💜We believe that maintaining the full legal protections of health data is essential for trust and security for both patients and providers. 💜Our AI solutions are designed to align with these evolving regulations, helping clinicians reconnect with their practice and their patients without sacrificing data security. 💜Our vision is for everyone in Australia to access private, secure, AI-assisted healthcare, and we are committed to supporting patient-centred, fully protected care through our technology. Thank you to the MSIA for hosting such a valuable summit and to everyone who contributed to the insightful discussions. #MSIAAnnualSummit #AIinHealthcare #DataPrivacy #DigitalHealth #CyberSecurity #PatientCenteredCare"

About us
Silknote intends to equitably reduce the demands on health practitioners and systems. We feel inefficiency is the driving force behind the lack of healthcare availability. We strive to provide safe, privacy focused, ethically implemented software using an evidence based approach. The availability of highly effective AI models has changed dramatically over the past few years. To us it seems inevitable that in the years to come AI will be an almost universal third party to patient interactions driven by the motivations of the different stakeholders in the healthcare system - Practitioners who want to provide the best care, organisations who want to improve information collection to mitigate medicolegal risk, and patients who increasingly see these tools used in other disciplines and are already coming to expect the same in healthcare. We want to see that be guided by informed clinical practice, patient autonomy, and ethics - rather than be pushed in by organisational demand.

🔍 In AI, selection bias can result in skewed outcomes when the data used for training doesn’t represent the full picture—like training on a dataset with only male employees and missing out on insights for female employees (Chapman University, 2023). At Silknote, we’re committed to keeping patient care fair and unbiased. That’s why we don’t train our AI on live patient data, ensuring our system supports clinicians in providing equal attention and care to every patient. 💬 Give every patient the time they need. #AIinHealthcare #PatientCare #BiasFreeAI #HealthTech #AIforGood #UnbiasedCare #BetterHealthcare

👩⚕️🖥️ Did you know that 49% of Australians feel frustrated when they don’t have their clinician’s full attention during consultations? In a fast-paced healthcare environment, patients often wait weeks or even months to discuss their health concerns—only to feel ignored when the clinician is focused on screens, not them. At Silknote, we’re changing that. Our AI clinical documentation assistant helps doctors practice away from keyboard medicine, spending less time typing and more time connecting with their patients. 💡 Let’s make every consultation count. #Silknote #AIinHealthcare #PatientCare #MedicalInnovation #HumanConnection #HealthTech #ClinicalAIScribe

As advocates for safe use of technology in medicine, we were pleased to see The Conversation Australia + NZ cover the topic of AI scribes. The questions to ask of a provider are important, but so too is their response. With AI scribes, healthcare professionals can focus more on patient care while AI handles the notes. But how do we ensure it’s safe and reliable? At Silknote, we maintain the legal protections afforded to healthcare data, we can never see patient data, and we are unable to share it or use it for training AI models. It would be fantastic to see The Conversation Australia + NZ cover the legal implications of redaction on notes. It is important AI scribes maintain the protections afforded to healthcare data for both patients and clinicians alike. Read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/gqz9fxxt

Last week, our Co-Founder Esther McTigue Silknote spoke at the University of Sydney's Digital Health Innovation Engagement event. We love to see the digital health community come together, sharing innovative ideas and breakthroughs. The event highlighted some of the incredible advancements in digital health, especially within the AI space here in Australia. These conversations sparked valuable reflections on the ethical use of data, an area Silknote is deeply committed to as a strong advocate for data sovereignty. Thank you to the University of Sydney and organisers Luping Zhou and Zhengqiang (Howard) Jiang for hosting this event. #DigitalHealth #AIinHealthcare #HealthInnovation #DataSovereignty #EthicalAI #TechForGood #HealthTech #HealthcareAI #MedicalData #AIethics #HealthData #InnovationInHealth
