  • Interesting stats Drones are becoming ubiquitous across industries, with many applications beyond traditional uses. While specific sectors like Arts & Entertainment, Insurance, and Mining & Quarrying often prioritize one primary application (e.g., photography, inspections, mapping), the versatility of drones is evident in their diverse usage. Energy and Agriculture exemplify this versatility, utilizing multiple applications like inspections, mapping, and spraying. Construction, Energy, and Agriculture represent the largest markets for drone technology. Other industries, such as Education, Public Administration, and Public Emergency Services, also leverage drones for various tasks, including mapping, surveying, photography, and tracking. Moreover, innovative applications are emerging in sectors like Healthcare, Disaster Relief, Safety & Security, and Waste Management. Drone deliveries of medical supplies, surveillance of critical infrastructure, and landfill mapping are just a few examples of the expanding role of drones in modern society. In conclusion, the commercial drone industry is rapidly evolving, and drones are increasingly integrated into various sectors, offering numerous benefits and opportunities.

Curious on when to use LiDAR vs Photogrammetry? The answer is in the trees! Check out these two data sets below, flown at the exact same heights with the same flight lines. This is only the ground points of the two point clouds that were created from each sensor. The 45MP P1 is a great tool for hard surfaces and solid ground, but once we introduce some foliage, the five returns of the L2 finish the job. #LiDAR #photogrammetry #djim350rtk #djienterprise #zenmusel2 #dronesforgood #surveying #architecture #dronesurvey

Another feature highlight video! Here I show the quick two step process of removing cars from meshes in DJI Modify. Step one is to flatten the vehicle in the mesh, then step two is to repair the mesh. Im pretty excited to see the future with this program, its only getting better and better. This video is from the Charles H Wright Museum of African American History in Downtown Detroit. Roughly 1100 photos in total with the M350 RTK and Zenmuse P1. • The Value of Capturing and Analyzing Reality Modeling Data Utilizing Drones. The construction and infrastructure space has been utilizing reality modeling – or reality capture – for years now as the value of having these accurate 3D visualizations has become increasingly clear. Additionally, as the sensors for capturing this data have become increasingly smaller without sacrificing power, tools like drones have been utilized to improve the process of capturing the reality modeling data. For a structure like a dam, for instance, it is significantly safer to use a UAV to capture data for the structure than having a person with a handheld or tripod scanner try to capture it. This, as one would expect, was a use case that was discussed frequently at this year’s Commercial UAV Expo.
