Additionally, as the sensors for capturing this data have become increasingly smaller without sacrificing power, tools like drones have been utilized to improve the process of capturing the reality modeling data. For a structure like a dam, for instance, it is significantly safer to use a UAV to capture data for the structure than having a person with a handheld or tripod scanner try to capture it. This, as one would expect, was a use case that was discussed frequently at this year’s Commercial UAV Expo.
