Sophie's Legacy
Non-profit Organizations
Sophie's Legacy aims to reduce the rate of suicide within the vet profession and improve their working conditions.
About us
Sophie was an extraordinary Vet who died by suicide at the age of 33. To honour Sophie, her family has established Sophie's Legacy with the goal to reduce the rate of suicide within the vet profession and improve their working conditions. There is evidence that the veterinary industry is in a mental health crisis. In the past 30 years the risk of suicide in veterinary professionals has been reported to have steadily increased. A report published in 2008 reports that veterinarians are four times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. Sophie was one of these statistics. We want to reverse this trend. Help us to help Sophie’s friends and colleagues.

Surround yourself with good people who lift you higher 🙌 A huge thanks to the SASH Adelaide Team for inviting us to be part of their first full day education seminar for vets and vet nurses. It was an insightful day with 11 live lectures and plenty of opportunities to network. All proceeds will be donated to Sophie's Legacy so we are super grateful for their efforts 🙏 SASH - the Small Animal Specialist Hospital

Congratulations to Showpony who have won two awards for the Sophie’s Legacy LOST campaign at the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club Annual Awards. It’s the second time we’ve teamed up with this amazingly talented team - first for We’re Only Human and then for Lost. Both campaigns gained national and international traction. The Showpony team were compassionate, generous with their time and ideas and executed the brief perfectly. These are well-deserved accolades 👏
