Imagine building a fully functional water battery, complete with steel tower, solar-powered components and a working turbine... in just 8 days! ⚡ That’s exactly what our talented graduates Billy Weston, Joshua Schembri, Ryan Sharma and Project Engineer Kiran Balamurugan achieved at Constructionarium Australia, working collaboratively with teams from Melbourne Water and BMD Group. What exactly is a water battery? This innovative energy storage system balances electricity supply and demand. 🔋 Using solar-powered pumps, the system moves water between an upper and lower reservoir to either store or release energy. Throughout the build everyone rotated positions, gaining invaluable hands-on experience tackling real world challenges. Fantastic work team! 👏

Our Portsea to Sorrento water pipeline upgrade along Point Nepean Road is complete! ⚒ The existing 300mm diameter pipes were laid by the army in the 1940’s to service Point Nepean Quarantine Station, and it was time for an upgrade. To reduce impacts on the community, cultural heritage and the environment, we took a trenchless approach. This proved a challenge as the existing reinforced concrete pipes had variable thicknesses, depth and horizontal alignment – as well as a smaller internal diameter than expected. So, together with Service Stream, we developed custom equipment to split the pipe and re-engineered the network, allowing us to utilise the existing alignment. 💪 This 4.4km renewal will ensure a safe and reliable water supply for locals and visitors – now and for generations to come. 💧 We’ll be reinstating impacted areas over the next month, so you may still see us around.

Safety is everyone’s business. 🚧 Every day, we all face risks and hazards, no matter where we work. That’s why it’s crucial to have the right tools to prevent incidents before they happen. 🦺 October was National Safe Work Month, and a chance to strengthen our safety culture even more. Over the month, we hosted 15+ presentations and a Townhall featuring insights from both our team and external experts. Together they covered all aspects of safety - in the office, using technology, and out in the field including some of our lifesaving rules like Electrical Safety and Confined Space Entry. Thanks to our enthusiastic presenters and engaged audience, you make us proud of your commitment to safety at work!

Aquarevo will soon be home to a new Water Recycling Plant (WRP)! 🏗 Last week, The Hon. Sonya Kilkenny, Minister for Planning and Member for Carrum, announced that the contract to design, build and operate Aquarevo WRP has been awarded to Hydroflux Pty Ltd. Aquarevo, in Lyndhurst, is one of Australia’s most water efficient communities, where homes cut drinking water use by up to 70% thanks to recycled and rainwater. 💧 The plant will use an Australian first natural Organica food chain reactor, integrating plants into the treatment process. This innovative design allows the WRP to blend into the landscape as a natural garden! ☘ Set to recycle 52 million litres of wastewater a year, it’ll provide Class A recycled water for toilet flushing, garden irrigation and washing machines – saving precious drinking water for drinking! 🚧 Construction is planned to start in early 2025, with the plant to be operational by late 2026. 🚧 #Infrastructure #Construction #WaterRecyclingPlant
