📣 Medibank customers rank St Vincent’s #1 for fourth year running. Our private hospitals – which make a total of 10 across NSW, Victoria and Queensland – were ranked first by Medibank’s overnight patient customers in six of the nine categories surveyed, and didn’t finish lower than third in the three other categories. The categories where St Vincent’s private hospitals were ranked first were nurse communication, doctor communication, pain management, care transition, cleanliness, and quietness. St Vincent’s private hospitals were also ranked first for a patient’s willingness to recommend the hospital to others. Congratulations to all our private hospitals teams – from doctors and specialists, to our nursing and allied health staff, through to food, environmental, and administrative services – for your ongoing commitment to outstanding care.

Today is World AIDS Day, which is close to our hearts at St Vincent's. It is a day for us to show our support for people living with HIV and to commemorate those who have died. And as we mark the 40th anniversary of HIV/AIDS, we honour the legacy of those who paved the way in navigating this epidemic with courage and compassion. In 1984 St Vincent's opened the first dedicated HIV/AIDs Ward in Australia at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney, and were the first responders to the HIV epidemic when it reached our shores. Today, there is no need for such a ward. Without the courage and compassion of our people, thousands of men would have died alone, uncared for and suffering terribly. St Vincent’s and the Sisters of Charity demonstrated leadership, compassion and excellence, opening the doors and caring for more than half of the country’s HIV/AIDS patients. #WorldAIDSday

  • Last week, St Vincent’s Private Hospital East Melbourne hosted a GP Dinner in conjunction with the ‘Stronger’ team, the topic of which was fittingly called ‘Stronger Knees.’ Kindly sponsored by Stryker and held at Ella Bar Grigliata in Richmond, the evening included presentations from Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Shane Blackmore, Sports and Exercise Doctor Krish Naidu and Senior Physiotherapist John Sweet. With 20 GP’s, physiotherapists and nutritionists in attendance, it was a wonderful evening of learning, with the event providing attendees with a good review of common knee problems, best management of these and an overview of the orthopaedic pathway. An engaging and informative evening, attending GP’s described the night as comprehensive, informative and a great opportunity to update their knowledge. We are currently in the process of developing our GP Educational Evenings calendar for 2025. Should you be interested in finding out more of being added to our invite list for upcoming events, please email Nicole, GP Liaison Coordinator on Nicole.Campain@svha.org.au
