We found some significant overspending in our client’s supply chain. When they engaged our supply chain consultants, they were importing 2,900 containers each year under a mix of CIF, DAP and DDP terms from China, Europe and the US. We analysed invoices over four years, as well as lost funds based on damage claims. Here’s what we found: 👉 Big insurance overspends e.g. Claims were only processed at 2.5% of their commercial value. 👉 Multiple instances of lost duty such as unclaimed FTA’s of $338,000. 👉 Due to a lack of freight planning at origin, containers were being underutilised by 28%. Our response included an action-plan to utilise the best terms of trade, reduce unnecessary costs and achieve ongoing improvements.
