Strata Community Association (Vic) is the Peak Body for Owners Corporation Managers, Committees, Owners and Occupiers.

About us

Strata Community Association Victoria (SCAV) is the pre-eminent member-based association for the Victorian Owners Corporation industry. SCAV was formed in 1990 to provide advocacy, support, advice and promotion, and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. SCAV is the only organisation solely focussed on representing the strata property sector. As a result of the exponential rise in strata living due to lifestyle choices and population growth, 1 in 4 Victorians are living in or affected by Owners Corporations. SCAV members are BLA Registered professional Owners Corporations Managers, regulated by the Owners Corporations Act 2006 and its Regulations. They empower Lot Owners and occupiers, assure compliance with insurance, Essential Safety Measures (ESM) and OH&S, coordinate building and common property maintenance. The Code of Professional Conduct raises the bar to maintain ethical standards and members are held accountable through a robust complaints process. Members benefit from access to the Standard Contract of Appointment, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), training and education, Best Practice Guidelines on regulatory and legislative amendments, updates on VCAT determinations and all emerging issues. Owners Corporations comprise residential properties ranging from 2 units in a suburban street to many hundreds of units in inner city apartment buildings. Owners Corporations represent property valued at over $300 billion dollars and encompass commercial, retail, lifestyle resorts, retirement villages, car parks, storage facilities, industrial and, increasingly, mixed developments. More than $1 billion per year is collected and spent. There are currently over 85,000 active Owners Corporations in Victoria, covering more than 772,000 individual lots. SCAV represents more than 80% of all professional owners corporation managers, with almost 800 members.
