Last week, our Synergy Digital, Synergy Managed Services and ThinkPlaceX teams attended the Digital NSW 2024 Showcase. ThinkPlaceX, part of Synergy Group, sponsored the event, which explored the theme ‘NSW’s Digital Future: Inclusive, Sustainable, Trusted’. We had meaningful conversations at our booth about co-designing government services, improving sustainability, strengthening public trust and technology-enabled innovation. On stage, ThinkPlaceX Partner Darren Menachemson GAICD chaired the Trust Track, diving deeper into designing trusted services and experiences that resonate with citizens. “Over time, we’re seeing technology play a greater and greater role in people’s lives, including, and maybe even especially, in government departments and people’s interactions with government,” he said. We'd like to thank our incredible teams for representing us so well at the event! Thanks, Michelle Cabanela, Colin Hoekstra, Jamie MacKenzie and Darren Menachemson GAICD #SynergyGroup #PlayWithImpact #ThinkPlaceX #DigitalNSW

Last night, our Synergy Law team delivered a workshop on important changes to sports governance to one of our Canberra sports associations and its member clubs. The particular focus was member protection and child safeguarding. This is a great example of Synergy Group's commitment to the community, ensuring sports can be a safe place for all. We'd like to thank Synergy Law Executive Director Saskia KEENAN and Associate Jessica Liao for putting together this incredible workshop! #SynergyGroup #PlayWithImpact #ActAsOne

Synergy Group was delighted to host AIPM ACT’s most recent event, a panel discussion on What is Minimum Viable Project Management? We were privileged to have such engaging and thoughtful panellists: Liz Sisley from the Department of Defence, Emily Woodward from the National Indigenous Australians Agency, Elisha Miller from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and Susanne Kennedy Synergy Group’s Assurance Partner. After a great discussion across the panel, we drew the following conclusions: • Don’t cut corners. The project management framework and process should be tailored, proportionate and scalable to what you need to do. • Have a clear plan upfront – understand the project’s purpose, the end-state outcomes and measures of success. • Implement decision-making at the right level. Empower project leaders appropriately with clear roles, responsibilities, and authority. • Communication is key. Build stakeholder trust through understanding their drivers and frequent and ongoing engagement. #SynergyGroup #PlayWithImpact #ActAsOne #PPD #ProjectManagement Mandy Hill Kerry Markoulli

Defence's multi-role playbook. The National Defence Strategy (NDS) has reordered the priorities of Defence. Deterring attacks against our territory has always been a key part of Australian defence strategies, along with efforts to shape the environment and respond to threats as needed. However, denial and deterrence within a holistic, whole-of-government framework have become the highest priorities. Synergy Group's Defence Strategy and Industry Manager Bonita Philp recently wrote in her article for The Mandarin 2024 Defence Special Report that we need to maintain and enhance capabilities within the ADF's workforce constraints in order to appropriately implement the National Defence Strategy. Bonita discusses long- and short-term options for capability development, including adopting a Modular Open System Approach (MOSA), which will enable better integration of battlespace awareness and management systems across Defence. Read more about how the MOSA framework can enable defence to make better use of its resources here: https://loom.ly/foLNRx4 #SynergyGroup #2024DefenceSpecialReport #TheMandarin

Fear of the unknown: Why Australia’s supply chain is under threat. The Hezbollah pager and walkie-talkie attacks are a stark reminder that Australia must be wary of how the electronics supply chain can be used for surveillance or sabotage. Concerns around Australia's import-heavy trade relationships are hardly new. Infiltration of our supply chain need not be widespread to cause exponentially disruptive effects. Yet our current options are limited: even the least-worst option is prohibitively expensive and unlikely to be implementable in the time we need. Synergy Group Defence Strategy and Industry Partner Mark Jeffries' recent article in the Mandarin 2024 Defence Special Report discusses Australia's current supply chain vulnerabilities and explores our reliance on the importation of electronics and consumer goods from countries like China presenting a potential risk of foreign control over our supply chains. Explore the ways Australia could bolster its own supply chains through building domestic industry and the challenges that come with doing so; read Mark's full article here: https://loom.ly/TLo2MEI #SynergyGroup #2024DefenceSpecialReport #TheMandarin

As sponsors of TEDxCanberra, Synergy Group is proud to say that the team has been nominated in the 2024 Volunteering ACT Awards! 🏆 As a small team of individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, they spend hundreds of hours each year curating and producing TEDx events that showcase local innovators, creators and change-makers - with the aim of enriching the cultural fabric of Canberra, while connecting the community with global ideas and trends. Through their events, they have reduced barriers to participation by offering opportunities and spaces for local speakers from varied fields - ranging from technology and science to the arts - to present their ideas to a wider audience. These events not only showcase local talent, but also spark important conversations, encourage collaboration, and inspire innovation. Be sure to submit your vote for the TEDxCanberra team for ‘Canberra’s Choice Award’: https://loom.ly/H9Q-ma4 Canberra’s Choice Award is a chance for the Canberra community to vote for their favourite nominee. This award is one of the nine categories for the 2024 Volunteering Awards (we’ve also been nominated in a few other categories, but these are awarded by judges). The Canberra Choice Award is chosen based on the number of votes received by the Canberra community. #SynergyGroup #TedXCanberra #PlayWithImpact
