Today marks Day #1 of the 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. At TAFE Gippsland, we take respect very seriously - from our staff cohort, to our students and our stakeholders - because we know that while not all disrespect leads to violence, all violence starts with disrespect. Today, we’re encouraging everyone to reflect on how they show or want to receive respect in their relationships and how we can all contribute to safer, more equal communities. It starts with us. All of us. What does respect mean to you? Gippsland Women's Health #respect #16daysofactivism #endviolenceagainstwomen #itallstartswithrespect

As Gippsland’s leading training provider – we don’t leave anything to chance! Every member of our staff was involved in our annual Staff Planning Day this week, where each team came together to celebrate our wins and plan for an even better 2025 – for our students, our staff, our organisation and our Gippsland region. Taking the time to take stock, review what is working and what could be improved is just so important for future planning. 2024 has been a bumper year and we now have some great plans in place to ensure 2025 is even better! #tafe #trainingandskills #bringon2025

It’s official! The Gippsland East Study Hub at Orbost is now open and we were there to celebrate! Well, our Business Partner Fred Vanderslik was there on our behalf, along with delegates from the Gippsland East LLEN and Orbost Education Centre. “For those who don’t know, the Gippsland East Study Hubs provide free resources and facilities to help local TAFE, VCE and uni students study close to home,” Fred said. “This partnership model is designed to provide on ground support to the community by enabling a greater access to education products and services in the region.” Study Hub Orbost is one of several Gippsland East Study Hubs, including the Sale site hosted by us at our Flexible Learning Centre. Each quarter through our Staff Rewards, we recognise and celebrate a selection of TAFE Gippsland employees who embody our values in their everyday working lives. Integrity. Collaboration. Excellence. Responsibility. Last month, our staff values awards were handed out to a worthy bunch of recipients. As we endeavour to recognise all those who received an award this quarter, today we give a shout out to a small but purposeful project team, which has transformed our onboarding process. The terrific trio, consisting of Manager Culture and Capability Sally Dinsdale, People & Culture Advisor Damian Skeen and administrator Gemma Wilkie, was nominated for demonstrating 'exceptional commitment to enhancing the experience of new staff by taking on the significant responsibility of researching, designing and implementing staff induction days'. So, what does a typical day at TAFE Gippsland look like for Sally and her team? “On a typical induction day, we arrive pretty early at the Morwell campus in order to get the room set up, welcome packs out, confirm that catering is being prepared, make sure the room is comfortable and all the tech is working,” Sally said. “From there we greet new starters in the front foyer and bring them over to induction where we take their photo for their Staff ID and welcome them to the day and ensure all the presenters are at the campus ready for their allotted time. “A day not in induction sees this team working on mentoring programs for new educators, recruitment and selection processes, diversity and inclusion initiatives along with other key People and Culture activities.” A massive effort in coordination which involves presentations from everyone including the CEO and executive team to ICT, student services, academic governance and WHS, Sally and her team know how important onboarding is to an organisation and how much it contributes to TAFE Gippsland being an employer of choice in the region. So, what’s been the proudest moment for this team who’s ultimately goal it is to support TAFE Gippsland’s greatest asset? “Seeing staff grow and reach their goals, achieve the big things they work so hard to reach and know that, hopefully, in some small way you have support that is what we are proud of,” Sally said. “There is so much being done across the broader P&C team that really all tie together to see our team support staff to achieve their goals which in turn means we deliver quality student outcomes.” Congratulations team P&C! #peopleandculture #onboarding #induction #staffrewards #workattafe
