Jaguar Mining Provides Update on Progress Since the Previously Announced Incident at the Satinoco Tailings Pile TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / December 30, 2024 / Jaguar Mining Inc. ('Jaguar' or the 'Company') (TSX:JAG) provides an update on its remediation efforts and progress made since a slump occurred in the north wall of the Satinoco dry-stack (waste rock and tailings) pile at its Turmalina mine, as initially announced by the Company on December 9, 2024. Operations at the Turmalina mine remain temporarily suspended while the Company works constructively with the Brazilian National Mining Agency and other authorities. The Turmalina mine is part of the Company's MTL mining complex located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, approximately 130 kilometers northwest of the city of Belo Horizonte. Slope Stability Assessment of Tailings Dam This paper examines a complex methodology for calculating the slope stability of a tailing storage facility based on comparing the results obtained through deterministic and probabilistic approaches. Slope stability assessment of tailings dams based on a deterministic method does not always reflect a reliable picture of the facility’s safety. The Factor of Safety obtained through the deterministic method does not determine the actual level of danger, as it is impossible to establish a correlation between it and the probability of a dam failure.
