Macquarie Harbour Clean-up! 💙 We are committed to being a responsible neighbour and having a positive impact on the communities where we live and work. We are an active participant of the Strahan Aquaculture Community Forum, a community-led forum that provides an opportunity for biannual communication and feedback between the local community and the aquaculture industry. It was great to hear from Healthy Harbour Project Officer Harriet at the Cradle Coast Authority after the clean-up. Extract below👇 “A huge thank you for your enthusiastic participation! We really appreciate the time you spent cleaning up around our beautiful harbour! The event was a huge success, with over 70 participants, including many businesses and community groups and a significant amount of rubbish removed from 35km of roadsides and shorelines. There were 46 sacks of rubbish were returned to us at the West Strahan Beach! As well as the rubbish being removed, it was a great day for getting the community together, enjoying the lovely dinner from Strahan Primary School Parents and Friends and reflecting on the impacts of rubbish in our backyard.” Proudly sustainably feeding tomorrow. 🌊

Meet Kian this National Barramundi Day! 🐟💙 Today we celebrate delicious, ocean grown barramundi from Cone Bay/Yaloon, but we also celebrate our people, our communities and the environments in which they work. Cone Bay Operations Manager Kian has been working at the Cone Bay farm for over a decade and said he just loves it. He has worked across salmon and barramundi but says he prefers the warmer environment! “Here at Cone Bay we’re surrounded by some of the most pristine and beautiful landscapes in the world, so one of my favourite things about barra farming is the stunning environment we get to work in and the interesting characters we get to meet along the way.” “Cone Bay is a magical place. It’s hard to find another location that gives people the same feeling every time they visit. While the work can be hot and sweaty, the beauty of the surroundings more than compensates for it.” Tassal acquired the existing Cone Bay/Yaloon Barramundi farming operation in 2023, with the former operator having produced Barramundi in the Kimberley Aquaculture Development Zone (KADZ) in Cone Bay since 2004. Barramundi is a premium white fish with a sweet, buttery taste and delicate texture. Kian said he has been perfecting his smoked Aussie barramundi recipe! “I’ve spent a few years experimenting with the natural woods available in the Kimberley region, and it’s been quite a journey. But I’m happy to say that I’ve finally perfected the recipe.” Check out some Barramundi recipes below! https://lnkd.in/geCfPvtt

Meet Justin this World Salmon Day. 💙🐟 World Salmon Day is about celebrating not only the salmon but the people who are the heartbeat of our industry! Justin is Dive Team Leader at the picturesque Strahan in Tassie where he has been for seven years working in a small team of just four divers. Justin said he loves salmon and has a couple of go-to recipes that are always winners. “I am a fan of a homemade smoked salmon pate. It is great for dip on a platter or spread on a bagel or toast. I also made some teriyaki salmon skewers for an AFL Grand Final event at home and they were delicious.” Starting his career as a welder he said he loves working on the water and the beautiful West Coast and he feels lucky to have Ocean Beach at his doorstep for fishing after shifts. Whether you love it grilled, smoked, oven-baked or in a fresh bowl, today is all about enjoying this delicious fish in all its glory. Spring has sprung, and what better way to kick off the season than with a tasty salmon dish? Gather your friends, fire up the BBQ, or whip up a quick salmon bowl and dive into the flavours of spring. https://lnkd.in/gdpSBXte 📷 Photo of Justin by Sammie Saltmarsh Photography Cooke Inc.
