✨ Our very first speaker. Reflecting on our very first TEDxMelbourne talk with Greg Smith, who challenged us to rethink how we value our finite resources. We can’t assume that we have this infinite amount of nature, food or energy on this planet. His insights on sustainability remain as relevant today as they were then—a powerful reminder that the choices we make now will shape the world we leave behind. ▶️ Watch the talk here: https://buff.ly/3BxfyqZ

“The world’s great cities take individual dreams and stick them together into a collective beauty.” ✨ In his 2015 TEDxMelbourne talk, Michael O'Neill inspired us to imagine the cities of our dreams. Now, nine years later, he shares how urban spaces can transform into thriving ecosystems where nature and humanity coexist. 🔗 Read his latest blog here: https://buff.ly/49SBYzI #TEDxMelbourne #15yearsofideas #sustainability #biodiversity #communityimpact

Every step matters when creating a more inclusive world. At our latest 'Unpacking Genius' event, we successfully produced an event aimed at being more inclusive for the diverse community we represent. We received a heart-felt response from one of our youngest attendee's, Andrew. This is a positive reminder for all to create more accessible spaces for attendees at their events. 🎉 And that’s a wrap on TEDx Melbourne's Unpacking Genius event! Last night, we came together in the spectacular and immersive surroundings of THE LUME Melbourne, with the support of our presenting partner, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, for an evening that was nothing short of amazing. The space was exclusively ours, creating the perfect atmosphere to dive deep into the concept of genius. A huge shoutout to the incredible audience—your engagement made the night truly special. We were honoured to have Professors Anne Dunlop and Geoff Brooks take the stage, sparking fascinating discussions and inspiring us all. The balance between artistic and engineering perspectives was wonderful and thought-provoking. One intriguing insight: Did you know that Da Vinci didn’t complete much of his work? He was a chronic procrastinator! His obsession with a wide range of interests often led to unfinished projects. Like many geniuses, though, when he did focus on something, his dedication could be truly obsessive. The evening was a perfect blend of inspiration, creativity, and mind-opening conversations. And let’s not forget the delicious canapés that topped it all off 🍴 A massive thank you to our volunteers, whose hard work and dedication ensured everything ran smoothly. Your efforts made the event seamless and unforgettable. And a special thanks to Fifth Castle Media for capturing the night with amazing photos 📸 Until the next event!
