Last week, TIO joined various organizations in Western Australia for the Regional Accessibility Awareness Program, hosted by the Ombudsman WA. Outreach representative, Karina Reeves, participated in several information sessions, including Seniors Connect Day, Complaint Services Forum for Albany Chamber of Commerce, and an Aboriginal Community Information session. Karina engaged with communities in Albany, Denmark, and Melville, discussing concerns about their phone and internet services. A significant topic was the 4G coverage shortfalls following the decommissioning of 3G, which has been impacting businesses in both town centers and rural areas. Many locals reported substantial business losses due to these issues, with no current solutions being offered by providers. If you're facing similar issues, always start by raising your concern with your provider. If you need to escalate your complaint, we're here to help! Call us at our toll-free number 1800 062 058 or visit us online at www.tio.com.au

Heading overseas for the summer break? 🏖️ Staying in touch with friends and family when travelling overseas is important, but make sure you know how international roaming works, and how much it will cost you. There may be different rates for calls, data, and texts. You can check your ‘Critical Information Summary’ in your contract, or ask your telco about roaming costs. To minimise extra fees, turn off international roaming or data while you are overseas, and check your usage regularly. Your telco should send you usage alerts when 50%, 85% and 100% of the included value of an international mobile roaming value pack is used. If you’re not sure about anything, ask your telco for help. We know what’s at stake when we become disconnected, but what if we feel too connected? Too watched, too controlled, too monitored? The TIO supports the Telco Together Foundation and the eSafety Commissioner in shining a light on tech enabled abuse. 99.3 percent of practitioners in the domestic and family violence space reported working with clients who had experienced technology facilitated abuse. It's not okay. Recognising what it is helps stamp it out. #TechAbuseAwareness #TelcoTogether #DomesticViolencePrevention #SafetyThroughTech

The TIO is proud to support the Telco Together Foundations’ “Love Is” campaign, shining a light on how tech abuse can intersect with family violence. The scourge of family violence doesn’t follow a linear narrative. Over 60 percent of Australians aged between 18-54 have experienced technologically facilitated sexual violence, and two in five women experiencing coercive control have reported their partner has abused or threatened them online. Recognising what it is helps stamp it out. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gpNZdcme #TechAbuseAwareness #TelcoTogether #DomesticViolencePrevention #SafetyThroughTech

Before you sign up to a new contract, check the payment method options that your telco offers. Some telcos will not provide services to you unless you give authority for payment by direct debit. If that’s not suitable for you, shop around for the telco that’s right for you. And remember, your telco must always offer at least one free payment method. Need help? We’re here. 🌐 www.tio.com.au 📞 1800 062 058
