We're excited to announce construction has officially commenced on Telstra InfraCo’s Pilbara Connectivity Program! Over the next 2 years, we will be working with our construction delivery partners, UGL and @Genus, to build two new fibre routes in the region: Parry Range to Tom Price and Nullagine to Marble Bar.   Telstra InfraCo’s Pilbara Connectivity Program will see significant improvement to the resiliency of Telstra’s network in the region, as well as driving new fibre routes closer to these locations to increase connectivity.     The need for this new fibre infrastructure in the Pilbara is clear –the adoption of real-time data analysis, robotics, AI and automation, as well as the shift to electrification across the mining industry is happening at lightning speed and these technological advances rely on high-capacity low-latency fibre networks. #innovation #telecommunication #digitalinfrastructure #fiber #fibre #AI #technology #telstrainfraco

Telstra InfraCo’s Intercity Fibre Network build is making steady progress laying our world class high capacity ultra-low latency fibre along the Sydney to Perth route with some of our construction crews now based in far western NSW.   Last week, Ventia - our construction delivery partner along this route, commenced construction in Broken Hill, marking the milestone with a smoking ceremony conducted by the Barkandji and Nyiimpaa people.   This remote but spectacular part of the country has some fascinating history. The corridor for this fibre path is the same corridor used by Afghan cameleers who helped build the Australian Overland Telegraph line and the inland railways from the 1860s to the 1930s.    The footage here shows our D9 dozer making some solid progress taking our total kilometres constructed to over 2600km! #telecommunications #innovation #digitalinfrastructure #telstrainfraco #fibre #progress

It was a great pleasure to host the Federal Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland and Federal Minister for Regional Development, Kristy McBain on an Intercity Fibre Network construction site just outside Canberra this week.   With the backdrop of an expansive Australian countryside, Telstra CEO Vicki Brady and Telstra InfraCo’s Kathryn Jones provided the Ministers with a first-hand view of Telstra’s world class high capacity, ultra-low latency intercity fibre being ploughed into the ground ready to support Australia’s digital economies of today and tomorrow.   We’re particularly proud of our network’s potential to deliver enhanced connectivity into regional and remote areas via the foundation fibre – the blue cable, while ensuring high-capacity and ultra-low latency connectivity from capital city to capital city via the express path – the pink cable.   Thank you to Ventia, one of our construction delivery partners, for hosting us on site and showcasing the incredible work being done to bring this vision to life.  #technology #fibre #fiber #infrastructure #digital #telecommunication
