About us

Bringing creativity and knowledge to running a business, from “the bush”. Learn the skills to start, run or grow your business. Sharing the knowledge to start and run a small business, is what The Bush Business Collective is focused on and this is done through workshops, mentoring and events. A place where business operators in the bush (anywhere outside of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne), can cultivate a network, learn, feel inspired or simply connect for some advice or knowledge.

People | Purpose | Planet. For anyone that has worked with me and knows me well, will understand how important these 3 things are. Today I had the privilege of presenting these five amazing leaders a Certificate of Attendance. The workshops that I facilitated were focused on Communication & Leadership skills. Two topics that I have demonstrated and champion in my work and life. Thank you to Anthony Dann and Mel Sass and the Beacon Laundry team for welcoming me to your business. What a gift you have given to invest in your leaders in this series of professional development sessions + being a local (and national leader) in how a social enterprise can operate both effectively and profitably while making a HUGE difference on People and the Planet - with Purpose. That’s a wrap. Today was filled with good company, wisdom, ideas and shared values. It was the final wrap up of the Sefa EmpowerHer program in collaboration with the Byron Community College. Thank you to Julia Keady, Odette Barry , J’aimee from the Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce and Mel from Beacon Laundry Laundry for joining us. To the team at Sefa Gabrielle K. Sophie O'Sullivan & Anna Robertson you have brought so much value to the Northern Rivers. I am also very grateful to be in on the journey with you over these last few months. To the founders making impact on so many meaningful topics you are the stars! We will be here supporting your journey and cheering you on! #socialenterprise #femalefounders #forpurposebusiness

That was fun! Last week I had the privilege of speaking to 120 guests at the Zonta Club of Hervey Bay at their Annual #IWD event. While I’m sure some of the audience may resonate with my journey so far, it meant a lot to me to have these dozen Year 12 students keen to know more about my tips for the next phase of their own next chapter. So another International Day of Women drew to a close and I felt a surge or emotions as I reflected on so many of the female mentors who have helped guide my path in life. There had been many highs and an equal amount of lows, but the journey continues. “Always stay true to yourself and never let what someone else says, distract you from your goals” Michelle Obama. #iwd2024 #femaleleaders #thepath

  • It’s time to get started! I trust the New Year has been simple enough for everyone, although many across Australia and the world continue to struggle with disasters and hardship and I send those who are facing these elements, my love and care. In my space, I have had a relaxed, calm and nurturing summer break. The New Year was greeted very consciously and the mood remains thoughtful and contemplative. I have appreciated having some space to stop and catch my breath, but it’s time to return my focus into the year ahead. I’ve used the last few weeks to restore, review and prepare @the.bush.business and you’ll see some changes (more tweeks) in the coming weeks and a full update in the next newsletter. In the meantime, get ready for the first coffee meetup in February at Folk Byron Bay. Tickets will be on sale this week and all of the details will feature in the next newsletter. I look forward to socialising, supporting and inspiring businesses “in the bush”.
