The event calendar has been released and the first cab off the rank is The Event Managers Network: The Event Lab. Imagine coming to an event where the common thread between everyone is their desire to create incredible audience experiences. That's what it's like at an Event Managers Network event. People from all types of industries, some with jobs in the arts, business and of course events, coming together to meet, share ideas and be guinea pigs to testing ideas and challenging the norm. If this sounds like a group you want to hang out with, and creating events is part of your world, we would love to meet you. Check out the event details here and drop me a note and share a tried and true event activity you would love me to challenge. Here's the link! https://lnkd.in/eHJFrhwe

3 Lesson I didn't think I would learn when I started working with clients... They want to be informed. Keeping them in the dark keeps them worried and unsure. Even letting them know something isn’t done yet is better than keeping quiet. Not all of their ideas are good and learning how to help clients bring their ideas to life and make them good, has been the most rewarding of challenges. They are so grateful for the support, sometimes I think they forget that they paid for the service! Does this resonate with you? Share your client insights for us all to learn.

I mentioned recently in my post about what to wear to a webinar, to be careful about what your dog might be doing in the background. These are my dogs and while they are super adorable, they bark at everything that walks within 300 metres of my house, which can be quite the challenge on Zoom calls. Once someone asked me what kind of dog I had as they could see Rocket (the mini foxie) on the couch. When I turned around to see which puppy was there, he was doing that thing all male dogs do 😅. It's the only time I've contemplated using the blur feature in my background. LOL. What embarrassing thing has your dog done online and post a pic! (of the dog, not the embarrassing thing LOL).

This year I've created a series of events for The Event Managers Network that are in different formats and suitable for different audiences. The next one is a workshop and it's called The Saturday Sessions. I'm still fleshing it out the content and I would love to hear what subject you're keen to learn about. Sponsorship + AI Improving workflows with AI Booking presenters & speakers Starting your own event business Refining your 2025 Event Plan Marketing tactics that work on and off line Pricing strategies for events Designing you Event Experience Understanding Budgets Pop in the comments what subjects you would love to hear more about. Workshops will be in person and online with the first one coming up in March.

Only 1 out of 4 years I have been able to create this event. It's one of my favourite events and when I secured this gig the first time, the pandemic cancelled it - then the pandemic cancelled it again - and then the Brisbane floods. For 2 years we planned and coordinated this event, sometimes adding whole new layers of risk mitigation in, and then finally on the 3rd year we were able to deliver. It was an incredible day and the reward that comes from taking an empty field, to creating an environment - an environment that will bring joy and connection, really is a magical moment. To see it all come to life is the best part of planning and delivering an event, not to mention seeing the fun and friendship events like this bring. And then of course it all has to go back to the way it was, ready for school the next day. Not a trace left behind, no rubbish, no tyre tracks, not even any left over flowers. I am so passionate about helping teams, committees and volunteer groups experience the joy of creating an event like this, without the stress and without wondering who will do all the work. Let me upskill you and your team with processes, procedures, checklists and templates. The 8 Week Event Plan is open now. Check out 8weekeventplan.com for all the details.

I must admit, I'm still shocked and surprised to see so many professional people who do not pay attention to their "set" when they are on video! We all heard the one about that poor girl that took her phone (and Zoom call) to the toilet 😬 and so sure, we learnt that lesson - but what about all the others??? are we looking up your nose? have you left that weird book on the shelf? is there a mirror in the room that is reflecting a less than positive view... is your dog doing something untoward on the couch behind you? are there any other distractions on your stage that will stop me from paying attention to you? Comment nomorenostrils and I'll send you the full list 🤧

Inside the 8 Week Event Plan I break down the event design process to help you connect what you want to deliver with what your audience wants to receive. In this video I'm talking about THEME and how you can (and should) use the theme to connect your content, connect your audience and connect your outcomes. We're in the middle of a concurrent round of the 8 Week Event Plan and the next one will start in January. If you're ready to strategise your 2025 event plan, get in touch to find out if this program is the right one for you.
