Edge Impact has a new majority owner – the highly acquisitive RSK Group whose business model is to snap us as many promising companies in the sustainable solutions space as it can, keep their brands, let them do what they’re good at – and hopefully everyone prospers. Mark Haydock says RSK’s business strategy is to buy good businesses where the founder or leadership team want to continue to be involved, and everyone benefits from the continued expertise and commitment. Team Global Express is trialling 60 EV trucks thanks to a 50:50 funding split with Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Summer Steward took the audience at our Buildings as Batteries masterclass on a lively tour about the reality of what happens when your EV truck breaks down in the burbs, as well as the upside of switching to electric trucks. Summer’s company is a giant – so are many of the other tenants that are filling up our industrial buildings and consuming huge amounts of energy to keep their sophisticated logistics operations going. You can read about it in the first issue of our new TFE Review magazine. Between two covers you can get a great cross section of where this country is at in terms of electrification, EVs and using our massive CBD buildings and emerging industrial giants as batteries… well we need all the help we can get. https://lnkd.in/gr_MBvZx #evtrucks #EVs #industrial #electrictrucks #energy #buildingsasbatteries

Comms Declare's Belinda Noble said “We believe the gas and coal industry should be prevented from buying favourable media coverage, and that can only be done with a ban on fossil fuel advertising and sponsorships.” The Fifth Estate covered alarmist claims from fossil fuel proponents trying to keep gas in the home and commercial kitchens with claims of extreme costs to disconnect from the grid and fears of blackouts. News Corps tabloids continued the battle with a week-long series promoting fossil fuel, masquerading as editorial. Carbon dioxide removal plans need to have realistic, sustainable CDR budgets that align with ecological limits, human rights and sustainable development, writes Kate Dooley from the University of Melbourne. Removing carbon dioxide is central to climate mitigation strategies that envision global temperatures being lowered if we overshoot the Paris Agreement’s warming targets but we’ve underestimated the risks of relying on overshoot. The downside of democracy — has led some scholars to question whether a democracy can genuinely tackle environmental issues like the climate change crisis, writes Stephen Dark. James Lovelock, believes that political plurality is incompatible with environmentalism. In a perverse but pragmatic way, Lovelock advocates for "eco-authoritarianism", declaring that climate change is such a serious threat that "it may be necessary to put democracy on hold for a while".
