Over 12 months ago The RIX Group Pty Ltd was awarded part of the ground retention works for the Sydney Metro West - Eastern Tunnelling Package for our valued client John Holland CPB Contractors Ghella Joint Venture (JCG). The RIX Group have worked on a number of the sites – The Bays at Rozelle, Pyrmont East and West, as well as Hunter Street East and West. Part of our scope of works was the supply and installation of ground anchors and the installation of the vertical PFC soldiers at Pyrmont and Hunter Street. Adding to the complexities of this project, the shoring system had to be installed whilst the demolition of the existing buildings was underway. This is where RIX’s fleet of small Ripamonti Birdie drills and scaffold mounted drill masts came into their own, as access was extremely limited. The RIX team, with the assistance of our client, had to plan the logistics of deliveries into the busy Sydney CBD environment, the handling of large strand anchors within multiple basement levels, handling and installation of vertical steel soldiers and stressing of the anchors so that the retention system was functional by the time demolition reached the basement levels. To date, demolition is almost complete at Hunter Street and RIX look forward to being back on site to complete the retention system as excavation progresses.

Another package complete on Cross River Rail No matter the challenge, The RIX Group always deliver tailored solutions! For this project at the Exhibition Station site, we showcased our diverse drilling capabilities with over eight retaining walls, each requiring a unique approach. From tight 2.5m workspaces to high retaining walls, our team used a range of drilling machines including the Ripamonti Birdie rig for reduced access areas, a JunJin for drill & blast production holes, Casagrande C6 for large diameter micro piles, and excavator-mounted rigs for walls over 3m high. Here’s a quick summary of our scope: •          3,000m of anchors (active rock bolts, soil nails, and passive rock dowels) •          2,750m² of shotcrete (off-gun, screed, and wood float sponge) With another package wrapped up, we’re proud to be playing our part in delivering one of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects. #Rail #CrossRiverRail #Infrastructure

Site #3 Nestled on Mount Nebo in D’Aguilar National Park lies a track called “The Goat Track” - a one-way, gravel road that connects Samford to Mt Nebo with a constant uphill climb that offers great views over Samford valley. This is the location of the third site in this package of works for The RIX Group Just like the other sites, this brought its own unique challenges in relation to tight access, sharp turns, and weight restrictions on the track in to site, we really had to think outside the box. Shotcrete ready-mix trucks were not allowed to use the track. This required us to use kibbles for the placement of the required Shotcrete. The scope of works included: Descaling and de-vegetation via rope access Steel fixing via rope access Shotcreting via rope access All works performed to the satisfaction of our repeat client Durack Civil #ropeaccess #shotcrete #groundengineering #specialistcontracting

The RIX Group were recently engaged by EARTHTRACK SOLUTIONS PTY LTD for the remediation of a flood damaged site in Acacia Ridge, along the ARTC North-South Corridor. Due to the very close proximity of a live rail line, access was very tight and specialist plant and equipment was utilised. Communications with the Railway Protection Officers was paramount to ensure there was minimal disruption to passing trains. One of our Long Reach Excavators with Drill Mast attachment reached across the Railway line to access the top of the embankment, supported by two Elevated Work Platforms for bar installation and monitoring during drilling. The team delivered the project within program, safely and with minimal environmental impact. The scope of works included: ·      920 linear meters of soil nails ·      17,340 litres of grouting ·      150 cubic meters of reinforced shotcrete ·      20 cubic meters of fibrecrete for drains ·      200lm of sub-horizontal drains #longreach #liverail #slopestabilisation #groundengineering #soilnails #shotcrete
