As another year comes to an end and we welcome new beginnings and possibilities, what do I want do I want to remember about 2023? > These miracles are highly reproducible when we remove the obstacles to optimum health and fertility. And that more people deserve to learn these facts. Observing our babies grow and hold their siblings is profoundly beautiful because this picture is about so much more than two gorgeous babies. It’s a reflection of the steadfastness and courage needed to go ‘against’ societal pressures and challenge the narrative in reproductive medicine, especially in IVF/ICSI treatments. Our babies' life stories are already incredibly remarkable at birth because they usually happen after other treatments have failed - multiple times, even though it didn’t have to be that way. But the stories of the families we help create blend comprehensive diagnosis, effective treatment, and a touch of magic. These two children’s conception stories stand out because they were both conceived naturally after unsuccessful ICSI and IVF cycles (4 cycles in total). Their parents’ medical histories were highly complex, yet conventional medical intervention on its own failed this couple multiple times. A much more holistic action plan was required. Their mother, a medical doctor, who for her first baby (the cute toddler in the picture), simply wasn’t prepared to accept a donor egg was her only option and had to rediscover faith in her and her husband’s own body's ability to heal and prevail over what they were told was impossible to overcome medical diagnoses. Before their first child, for dad, we had to work on making significant improvements to his sperm count, which we enhanced from 0.2 million/ml to 52 million/ml in a few months with holistic intervention, which led to a natural conception. Post-kidney transplant, he faced the tough effects of anti-rejection drugs, challenging his energy and mental state. With the second Team Rosa baby, after a canceled IVF attempt and a failed cycle, the couple returned to us yet again for a personalized holistic approach. Mum, grappled with the painful flare-ups of sickle cell anemia, caring for a young child (usually bringing additional germs from daycare), and dad this time also managing post-transplant medication effects. Both faced unique challenges. Our focus for Mum included strengthening her immune system to minimize sickle cell flares and preparing for potential IVF or donor egg treatments. For Dad, we developed a plan to alleviate his medication's side effects and support his mental health. But as it happens for many of our patients, as they prepared for another IVF cycle, they again conceived naturally, mirroring their first miraculous conception. The birth of their second child, Grace, is a celebration of resilience and to me a constant reminder of the power of personalized, holistic reproductive health care. Our team is forever honored to assist in completing yet another beautiful family.
