We've been providing first Australian jobs, training, outreach programs and pathways to employment since 2014. Further, as a trading social enterprise, any income generated from product sales is directed back into the organisation in order to deliver on our social mission. We are registered with, and report regularly to, the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). We are also ethically accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia and the Good On You app. The Social Outfit is accredited and licensed to display the Ethical Clothing Australia trademark on its Australian-made garments. Ultimately, we want to continue to make and sell quality products that help financially empower people, and provide customers with unique pieces that tell amazing human stories.

The Social Outfit is thrilled and honoured to announce that Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of Australia has become our inaugural Patron. The Social Outfit’s Board Chair, David Hardie said it was an honour to welcome the Governor General as the organisation’s first patron: ‘The Governor-General has been a long term supporter and customer of The Social Outfit and chose to wear a custom-made The Social Outfit suit at her Swearing-in Ceremony last July. Her patronage is wonderful recognition of The Social Outfit’s work to support refugee women to kick-start their Australian careers’. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gfxEEkh6

Applications for our Retail Trainee program are open for our first cohort of 2025 ✨ https://lnkd.in/gnHiG2dy This program enables young women to learn retail and customer service in our Newtown store as they complete our Retail Training and Work Readiness Program. In their first Australian job our trainees gain paid retail work experience and customer service skills in The Social Outfit’s fashion store in Newtown, Sydney, selling the clothes and accessories our workroom creates 👗 This year, 11 incredible young women have graduated through our Retail Trainee Program. Congratulations to Maria, Faridah, Zahra, Yaqoot, Zahra, Maryam, Hadeel, Roula, Sahar, Malika and Aida. We also have 4 current trainees in our store, graduating this December. Pop by between now and early December to show your support for Surayia, Sara, Zahra and Madina on their Retail Training journey 💜💪 This program has not only secured ongoing employment for many, allowed friendships to blossom and cultures to collide in the most beautiful ways, but the team has also learnt so much from each of our trainees. You all continue to inspire us every day ⭐️

Last night, we joined three other incredible organisations at Impact100 pitch night in Sydney. What an honour and privilege to be able to share our mission and story with the room amongst fellow finalists HARDA - Horn of Africa Relief and Development Agency Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) and grant winner Bandu Organisation Australia. All who are doing amazing work to transform lives and drive change 🌟 Our community mother and daughter duo, Naz and Fezeh, joined The Social Outfit team, who secured a generous $20K grant. This funding will directly be invested into our mission, contributing to upskilling our sewing team and building capacity to increase production and sales revenue. Every item sold is a training and employment opportunity for our incredible team 💛 #impact100 Beverley Brock Camilla Schippa Sonya Price-Kelly
