  • Before saying yes to commitments over the holidays, come back to your answers to these questions. Do they align with your goals for this holiday season? Taking a moment to consider how I want to feel this holiday season helps me me prioritise the activities that will support those feelings, like spending time in nature to feel relaxed and recharged. This time of year can feel overwhelming, so it can be helpful to put aside time for yourself and do things that help you feel more like YOU. Share with me below, what’s one thing you want to prioritise this holiday season? ✨ https://lnkd.in/gsuj57p9

  • Everyone can have a platform these days and share health misinformation (even individuals in health related fields which can make it feel even more overwhelming and confusing). There are many podcasts that have massive followings and have come under fire for spreading health misinformation. So, how can we determine whether information is more or less credible? A tip is to check if the article or post has cited research backing their claims. IF YES ✔️ Great! You can go straight to the source (the full reference may be listed at the bottom of the article or podcast show notes). In addition to the results of the research paper, you can have a look at: 1) Who were the participants? 🤔 in some cases research has only been conducted in non-human species 🐀 and therefore, the results may not be generalisable to humans. 2) How many participants? - a greater sample size can give you more confidence in the study findings. 3) Replicated findings: For the evidence to be strong 💪🏽 you should be able to find a number of peer-reviewed research papers that have replicated those findings. ❌if the article has NOT cited research when making claims, check to see if you can find experimental evidence for the claim. You can use academic search engines (e.g. Google Scholar, library databases). If you don’t have access to the full journal article, you may be able to find the information you are looking for in the abstract (a short synopsis of the research). It is important to spot the difference between personal opinion and scientific evidence ✨ Remember, product testimonials are not strong evidence that a product will provide you with the benefits listed 🙅🏽Testimonials are considered anecdotal evidence – which are stories that people tell about patterns they have observed. This often biased and based on a small sample of people/situations. For supporting evidence, you can look for peer-reviewed studies conducted on humans. Let me know if you have more questions and I will dedicate some follow up posts ✨ https://lnkd.in/e8_kKaHR

I had a blast co-presenting an interactive Masterclass on Understanding Power and Good Conflict in the Workplace at BJCC - Brisbane Junior Chamber of Commerce, alongside my colleague Urusaro. My session delivered a taster of our new offering, Camp Conflict. We also played our new card game S’moregasboard which allows you to practise skills important for good conflict (it's also incredibly fun to play!). We explored how healthy conflict fosters constructive conversations between opposing ideas and values. When we are stressed, our ability to collaborate, consider different perspectives, and think creatively is compromised, and these are skills essential for tackling humanity's most pressing societal challenges. Here's more info about Camp Conflict: https://lnkd.in/g-YXtxNB and S'moregasboard! https://lnkd.in/gTgx-sgp Museum of Sticks & Stones

The holiday season can wreak havoc on our sleep schedules. There's more to juggle, late-night events, and perhaps a bit more wine. But when sleep suffers, so does our energy and stress resilience. Here are 3 ways to protect your sleep: 🌤️ Start in the morning: Get sunlight in the morning to regulate your sleep-wake cycle. 🛌 Bed is for sleep: Keep your bed for sleep—no work, no scrolling, just sleep and intimacy. 🗓️ Set a schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time daily for better sleep quality. What healthy sleep habits will you practise this holiday? Recently we launched the beta version of Dala Health - an app designed to support emotional strengh and wellbeing. I am very proud of what the Dala team has achieved, and even more excited that it’s in the hands of its first users! As Wellbeing Designer, I have the privilege of creating the resource library filled with breath work exercises, visualisation meditations and journaling prompts, amongst other educational tools and resources. I know from my own wellbeing journey how important learning about my own psychology, and knowing what tools lie in my toolkit have been for me. It’s helped me feel empowered to know I can take action to support myself better, and be more compassionate and kind to myself when times are hard. This is why my work at Dala Health is so important to me. I hope that the tools and resources in Dala helps strengthen others' wellbeing toolkit too. If you’re keen to try the beta app, please let me know or head to hellodala.com and register your interest to be amongst the first to experience Dala!

Yesterday marked a significant milestone with the Dala Beta Launch, and we’re filled with gratitude for the support we've received. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us—our valued business partners, investors, friends, family, and those passionate about wellbeing. It was truly special to see Dala’s very first Circle come together. The event was both insightful and inspiring. We shared Dala’s story, our mission to support emotional strength and wellbeing, and unveiled the first look at the app. It was wonderful to see everyone engaging with Dala firsthand. A special thanks to our co-founder and CEO, William Smith-Stubbs, who led an enlightening panel discussion alongside Kieran Maguire, Director of Science Of Fitness and Dr Priyanka Naidu, Product Lead and Wellbeing Designer of Dala. This is just the beginning for Dala. We’re excited for the journey ahead as we prepare for our official public launch, making wellbeing accessible to all. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Mettlesome Josephmark Feda Adra Ben Johnston Vivian Vu Susie L. Urusaro Patricia R.
