On Thursday night, the Future Leaders of Communication hosted their Career Compass event, featuring a panel made up of Matt (Hope & Glory), Mai (School of Agency), and our very own Talent Detective, Eddie. Searching for a new role in 2024 isn’t at the top of everyone’s list of favourite pastimes, so the night focused on providing guidance and insights to those in the communications space—whether they’re fresh graduates wondering, “What the hell do I do now?” or individuals taking that big step into senior leadership roles. Some highlights from the panel included: -It's a super competitive market: It’s key to enter the current job market with a plan and realistic expectations. -Don’t just rely on your resume to do the heavy lifting: Your ability to think outside the box and get creative with your job application can help you stand out. -Talk, talk, talk, and talk: Building your network, whether in person or online, will not only help you secure your next role but also set you up for success in the years to come. There was great energy in the room, with thoughtful and considered questions put to the panel. It’s fair to say that the future of the communications space is looking pretty bright. Last week saw the launch of creative collective Size Eleven, and their 'Bachelor's Handbag' - a high end cross body utility bag inspired by Australia’s rotisserie chicken bag 🍗 🔥 Created by Taylor York, Vince Usher, Jack Burton and Lucas Fowler, the bag has taken Australia by storm after one of the first customers to purchase The Bachelor’s Handbag was spotted on the streets of Sydney by a Reddit, Inc. user. News media personalities have gone crazy for the bag including Karl wearing it on Nine's The Today Show, and Amanda gifting it to Jonesy on WSFM 101.7 Sydney. This was backed by Thinkerbell and our Pot of Gold project, a pool of funds available to help make interesting ideas see the light of day. To buy a Bachelors Handbag head straight to bachelorshandbag.com, the perfect gift under $50 bucks this Christmas.
