In an Australian first, Poh Ling Yeow and our breathtaking Northern Territory will appear on the front cover of the 2024 Christmas edition of the The Australian Women's Weekly. Shot at Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve and Simpsons Gap near Alice Springs, this landmark shoot marks the first time the iconic Christmas cover ventured to the outback, with a stunning result. Tourism NT worked in partnership with Poh and the Australian Women’s Weekly to feature the Red Centre on the iconic Christmas cover. Along with the magazine cover, there is a feature story on the Red Centre and a Channel 10 Christmas special with the Weekly that will take viewers behind the scenes of the cover shoot and into the Red Centre locations. This marketing activity will grow the value of the holiday market for the NT by creating awareness of the stunning landscapes and cultural connections through a trusted and high reaching publication, ambassador and broadcast program.

This morning, the magnificent Quantum of the Seas made her maiden arrival in Darwin on a 12-day journey from Singapore to Brisbane, where she’ll homeport for the Australian season. Up to 5,500 passengers and crew stepped ashore to experience the best of the Northern Territory this morning, from thrilling crocodile jumping tours and exploring WWII history at the Defence of Darwin Experience, to admiring stunning murals and Indigenous art at MAGNT. We were lucky to jump onboard for a very special plaque exchange between Darwin Port and Captain, Krzysztof Szynkarczuk. Darwin Port is going from strength to strength with 13 maiden cruise calls scheduled in 2024-25 – proof that the NT is shining as a must-visit destination for global adventurers. The NT cruise industry contributed $181 million in total output and supported 527 jobs across the NT in the last financial year.
